Yes, last call for anyone who would care to participate in some fun over this forthcoming weekend of June 28, 29 and 30. The first of the season's carnivals will get under way at the Community club grounds starting with a fish fry at B o'clock Friday evening. All the rides will be in good running order to keep the children 6cctlpied while the parents, browse around. Refreshments and lunch will be served on th<^ grounds throughout the running period of the carnival. . Highlight of Sunday afternoon will be the ball game between our own Tigers arid the Elgin V.F.W. Plan on getting out and making lan afternoon of it. Guest of Honor \ ~ Mtrs. Catherine Smith was honored by St. Agatha's court No. 777 regular meeting for being a Forester member for 50 y^ar s. Mi's. Smith received several remembrances honoring her golden anniversary in the court. Change of Residence .. Mr. and Mrs. Tom O'Connor and their two children, who formerly resided in Chicago moved into their new home in Jak-Ana Heights recently. Hie O'Connors have come to the conclusion our town would be a wonderful place to bring up their youngsters. We all join in bidding them a warm welcome and hope they remain for many years. Also, moving into their newly completed home over last weekend are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hiller and family. The Hillers -moved into Hiller's subdivision from their farm which th£y recently Sold in Ringwood. Survivors, include Mrs. Ed (Dorothy) Hettermann of Johnsburg, Mrs. Paul (Henrietta) Boyk of Chicago arid Lt. William Herdrich, stationed in Texas, also nine grandchildren. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family. Highlights of the Little League These young fellows have been playing their hearts put and are anxiously waiting for some real good rooters to turn out on game night. Last week the cards beat the yanks by a score of 4 to.3. The Braves whipped the Red Sox by an identical score of 4 to 3. Coming up on July 1 the Yanks will try to defeat the "Braves and pri July 3, the card will- find their opponents will be the Red Sox. Try to get out and give these boys, a little moral support. They are still in need of help with their .insurance so if you can see your way'clear to contribute a little something, it will be more than appreciated. May they have many, many years of continued happiness in their new surroundings. -- ^ Sad News Last week proved to be among the saddest in many years for the surrounding communities. Several well known and well liked pefSons were cl&imed by death. We were all saddened by the sudden passing of Mrs. Cora Herdrich. Mrs. Herdrich passed away at the home of a daughter, Henrietta, in Chicago last Friday. She has divided her time between here and there in these past years. Funeral services were conducted from St. John's church. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery, Mc- Henry, Tuesday morning. Around The ToVFn Pfc. Ted Schaefer formerly of Fort Lewis, Wash, is home on a 25 day furlough. Ted will report to Camp Roberts, California upon completion of his time off. His parents, Mike and Eva are real happy to have him around, even if it is just for a short while. Mrs. L. E. Duescher and daughters of Jak-Ana Heights are spending quite a good size portion of the summer up North. Bill Mclnties and Violet Crowley, of Chicago were dinner (guests Qf Mr. and Mrs. Jack Keerian last Wednesday evening. ' Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tamasiy arid son, arrived here from Port Lauderdale, Florida, last week to spend the summer with Mr. arid Mrs. Joe Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lois of, Wheatland, Wis. visited relatives here last Sunday .evenihg. Mrs. Helen Hettermann and Mh and Mrs. A1 Pepping; accompanied by others from McHenry attended a silver wedding anniversary celebration in Belvidere Saturday evening. Our congratulations to Tony Schaefer and his new bride of Wss than a week. They were married in McHenry last Saturday, June 22. Tony's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schaefer.
