Pra'Twel • ' « : •" •' - . s ' 7- ' .- A: \A . - cV\i'* i. - ' ' by Annette Schmit This being the time of year when everybody takes off for (tarts unknown, it also ends up being the time when a reporter becomes discouraged at fin4ijig no news. The vacation season is upon us and most of our local people are spending a goodly part of , thei^. time out of doors where they don't seem to hear the telephone. I hope if anyone of our friends have a bit of news they might call and let this little news hound in on it.--Oh yes. I have a 1bit of news for you myself.--In an indefinite period of time, this reporter is going to fly the coop too and in her absence one Richard Hyatt will take over the responsibilities of being yotfr neighborhood reporter. In the event that you should call my number and should receive ho answer please call Dick at 1117 and give him your news. This I would appreciate very much. And as for news, what's with you? emotion, players, headstone, and flowers. Storm Damage With a tear in my eye, i set about telling you of the tragic mishap which took place next door to me during the terrific rain storm last Friday. It seems that last Thursday a blessed event took place when the mother cat at the Jinks' household gave birth to five of the sweetest kittens you'd ever seen. But being and acting just like a mother cat, Darkie hid her precious brood in a five gallon milk can to, avoid, the children finding her. Then, on Friday, the rains came.. The waters began-to fill up the milk can and Darkie, frantic for her little ones went about saving them. She managed to retrieve two kittens and hide them once again but her efforts to save them all were futile. By the time she went back to get the rest, the rain had drowned them. The funeral was held by the neighborhood children at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with a grand display of Visits Quebtec A vow of fifteen years standing was fulfilled last week, when Mr. and Mrs. Ben DiCicco Sr. and Judy returned from a visit to Quebec, Canada, where they visited the shrine of St. Anne DeBeau Pre. Mrs. DiCicco made the vow fifteen years ago. vowing that one day she would go to the shrine to visit. At long last the day came and the family set out, with Judydoing the driving. Judy estimates that they drove at least 2300 miles. Mrs. D. says that one can never imagine the beauty of the shrine unless one goes himself ? see it. The shrine, upon enter mg. reminds, a person of a holy land, and cars from every state in the United States were there to visit. Upon entering the family received a blessing from one of the priests and the sight of the "cast away crutches" was one they would never forget. Mrs. DeCicco has been a promoter for the shrine of St. Anne De Beau Pre for all these years and has secured many members to the shrine. If anyone would like to become a member of St. Anne's they can call Mrs. DiCicco at 517-R-2. The obligation of securing members has been her aim in life and she would welcome the chance to explain it to you. JO*- you want Lwhat you. want when you iimrir... then VifflJTAPS ai»e for TJOU! Injures Foot Young Ricky Foss is harboring a few crutches these days since his introduction to a rusty can cover in the lake last week. Seems Rick was swimming when he met the can cover and the jaggedness of the cover odid considerable damage to his foot. I understand that the cut was so bad that it was impossible to even put stitches in his foot and so Ricky will be disabled for another few weeks. This is typical of summertime swimming accidents and a note of d'S. SEMI ANNUAL SHOE SALE Entire Stock of Summer Styles DRASTICALLY REDUCED ROTH SHOES 118 S. The possibility of glass and other sharp objects is great. Mischievious little ones may have used that section to enjoy., themselves. Another Foot Mrs. Hyatt has been nursing an 'injured foot too. Seems she was sitting on a marble topped bench last week and one of the legs of the bench broke causing the marble to hit Jier heel. She too has a pretty nasty looking foot to contend with and she feels that marble is about the last word in discomfort. Hungarian Refugee Visits Last Sunday was an important day in the J< A. Schmit. home when Jim and Annette had the opportunity of playing host and hostess to a sixteen year old Hungarian refugee boy. The youngs lad, Joe, is a ward of their nephew.- he nephew, Jan Kopis, of Downers Grove, is very proud of Joe and since his arrival in America last Spring, has made remarkable strides in learning thie English language. Uncle John Herrmann brought Grandmother Herrmann, Joe and Jan out to visit and enjoy some water sports. They tell us this little Joe is ah excellent swimmer and water skier, but the sparkle in his eyes tells us that he's going to be a wonderful American. Pinochle Club The" pinochle club met last Wednesday, July 10, with Mrs. Ann Brzezinski as hostess to the group. Winners for the day were, Marcella Foss, Anne Bolda, and Claire Forbes. A wonderful time was had by all and refreshments were served at the close of the session. July Joyriders Here in Lakemoor for a visit is Mrs. Ida Bedard of Chicago, who is staying with Mr. and Mrs. George Forbes. The entire Foss family took last week Tuesday out to visit the Chicago Fair and tell with enthusiasm of the wonderful time they had. Mr. and Mrs. John Bonder and daughters have just returned from a one and one-half week journey to Canada and Minnesota. They visited friends in Winnepeg and Neepawa, Canada, and on the way back stopped at Minneapolis to see a sister there. Visiting at the J. A. Schmit home this past weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. William Schmit of Chicago. . " STATE OF ILLINOIS >* ) ss COUNTY OF McHENRY) IN THE CIRCUIT COURT OF MCHENRY COUNTY RUSSELL J.
