These should be secured as early as possible in order to assist the water pjatrol in carrying out its program. Bathing Beauty Contest Petite Beth Smith of Deep Spring Woods No. 2, was chosen by the judges for the title of •Miss Wonder Lake and the $50 Iheck at the bathing contest Saturday night at 9 p.m. which was sponsored by the Indian Ridge improvement ^association in' conjunction with their annual picnic. Runners-up were Miss Mary Efheridge of Indian Ridge1 who took the $35 prize money, and Miss Jean Marion of Lookout Point who won $15. Eighteen pretty girls walked before the judges while the crowds voiced their approval for the favorites. The judges were Mrs. Dorothy Thomas of Chicago, Jake Levesque of McCullom Lake, and Mr. Z. Reportorte of Mc- Henry. The other contestants were the Misses Susan Ensminger. Karen Lynn Fischer, Donna Toboliski, Mary Anne Kulenski, Jill Gustavson, Vicki Johnson, Barbara Monaghan, Adele Kulenski, Joanne C. Hays, Sue Leith, Lorene Sorenson. Mrs. Grace Sellek and Simone Fuller had high scores, the other ladies present were Mrs. Greta Weisenberger, Velma Sinplair, Alice Condren. Betty Selsdorf, and Ruth Woodward. Dainty cakes and coffee were served by the hostess. The next party will be at the home of Mrs. Sellek. Nativity Evangelical Lutheran Church Worship Services: 8 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday School: 9:15 a.m. Sunday -- July 28 Sermon topic for Sunday,, July 28 will be, "Unl£Ss Your Righteousness . . ." Everyone is invited to come in and browse through the items. Home-made cakes, pies and bread will also be sold. Sail Boat Race Winners of the race Sunday, July 21, on Wonder Lake were "Wet Pants", sailed by Peter Georgesen, who came in first; "Fancy Pants" sailed by Bob Ploog came in second, and Don Coumbe, W-9, came in third. There was a great deal' of excitement on Yacht club island watching "Fancy Pants" lose that first place position for the first time this year. There was a strong southwest wind Sunday morning. Eleven boats bbmpeted, in the race. County Queen Candidate Miss Beth Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith of Deep Spring Woods No. 2, will compete in the contest at the McHenry county Fair in August for the title of Miss McHenry county. This is the first year Miss Wonder Lake has been entered in the competition at the Fair. Beth, who is 15 years old, is 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 105 lbs., measures 34-24-35, has light brown hair, gray green eyes and a fair complexion She will be a sophomore at McHenry high this fall and is taking a home economics course. For recreation she likes swimming as well as other sports. Beth has a 17-year-old brother and the whole family is as happy as she is at the exciting prospect of being a candidate for queen at the county Fair.. News Briefs The Jack Moore family of Wonder Woods has been on the go recently; Saturday, July 20, Jack and Dorothea and their children, Jdck Jr. and Sharon attended the wedding of friends iBetty Keating and George Doerner at the Westwcod Lutheran,church in Elmwood Park and the reception for fifty guests. There was an exciting moment when Sharon almost catight the bride's bouquet. Sunday, July 21, Mr. and Mrs. Moore and Sharon and guest Clay Kolar went to the ^foose picnic in Woodstock city park, while son Jack spent the day at Delavan Lake with Mary Ellen Douglas and her folks of Woodstock. Gail Cannon is recuperating at home from an appendectomy performed at the Woodstock hospital last week. The party line bowling .team of the Wednesday, night league enjoyed a dinner party and show in Marengo July 17. Marion, phone Wonder .Lake 5151, Proceeds of the fair will go to the McHenry hospital auxiliary. ^ ' Weekend Occidents Laurance Clark of Northlake, Saturday, July 20, when , he lost Control of his motorcycle on- a curve on the Ringwodd blacktop, 1/5'mile_ east of the Mill Inn. He was taken to the hospital in Woodstock. Sunday night about 7:30, there was a freak accident in White Oaks Bay, when a car parked on the hill at the Edwin L: Grochocki residence rolled out of the driveway, across,the road, across the Bergstrom property,- through the picture window and door/ finally coming to rest in the living rpom with its front bumper against the opposite wall. No one wa's injured. To add-to the human interest, it was reported that the car was not insured. However, Dr. Bergstrom was fortunate in having a broad coverage policy on his property and everything is insured. It wasr also reported that T. P. Mathews was seen investigating the accident.
