Betty Hettemuuui r Juvenile Outing The Juvenile girl Foresters are planning a picnic with the associated courts on August 7. This joint outing will take pjace on the grounds of the Benedict Abbey at Benet L«ke near Antioch. More details on this will be printed in this column next week. Babies in the News Mr. and Mrs. "Sqnny" Miller of McHenry welcomed their third child, a daughter, on July 15. This young Miss took her first glimpse of daylight at the Memorial hospital in Woodstock. There will be two big brothers to help mommy Elaine with the new baby; Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Tony Freund. Also, another set of new grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe L. Freund, when their daughter, Mrs. Perry Walker of McHenry, gave birth to her fourth son last week. The Walkers have a real nice start for a future up and. coming baseball team. Another birth of interest took place at the Memorial hospital in Burlington, Wis., last Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Ketterhagen welcomed their first born, a beautiful little girl. Mrs. Ketterhagen is the former Gwen Lois, who has made several visits here in the p?st. Congratulations to the new parents and grandparents. Bnsebnll Quotes The Johnsburg Boys league continues to make news by their ever popular spirit of playing ball and fighting to get on top. On Monday evening of last week found the Yanks trimming the Red Sox by a score of JO to 1 while Wednesday evening found the Cards the victors of a close one over the Braves by a 10 to 9 score. Come July 29 the Cards will oppose the Yar.ks and on July 31 the. Braves will try to overcome the Red Sox. Try to get out and see these youngTellows play ball. Last Saturday evening found our Tigers on the short end of a 5 to 0 score when they opposed the Chicago Vets in Elgin" at the state meet. We were sorry to hear they had lost but you can't win them all. Maybe next year will be their year. TTiey did it once and we are sure they can dp it again. Meanwhile get out and catch a few of their Sunday afternoon games. Mourn Deaths Our sympathies are extended to the surviving families of Qharles Paulson and Harry Hoff. Both of these gentlemen have been well known and liked by the persons they have come in contact with over the past years. Mr. Paul- Son resided in Sunnyside Beach while Mr. Hoff made his home in the Bay area. Remember the three big days of August 9, 10 and 11. These are the days of tne St. John's parish festival. A fish fry will be the opening of the three day affair, which will be served in the Memmorial hall on the Community club grounds. The fish fry will start about 5:30 p.m. On Sunday afternoon, from 12 to 4 p.m. This festival will have all the different amusement booths which have in the past made them so popular. So be sure you remember August 9, 10 and 11. In connection with the festival the ladies of the parish have started to solicit from door to door for donations to defray the costs. If you can help please do so. them in anyway, Rescue Squad t>ance . Another date to remember is Saturday evening, August 31. This is the night for the annual dance put on through the efforts of the rescue squad members. If you can't attend the. dance buy a couple of tickets anyhow and help their cause. The dance will take place in the Community club hall. Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Lieser of Mc- Cullom Lake, were victims of an untimely auto accident last Thursday evening, near the Joe E. Freund farm. The rescue squad was called to the scene to lend their assistance. Mr. and Mrs. Lieser were taken by ambulance to the McHenry hospital where Mrs. Lieser remained until the weekend; Three breaks in both arms and several stitches in his jaw compels Mr. Lieser to be confined to the hospital for quite a spell. They are the parents of "Bud" Lieser of Jak-Ana Heights'. Paul 2immermann was enter* itained at the home of Mr. and Mrs; Joe Schmitt over last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. John Dehn of Chicago spent a few days vacation at the homes of their son and daughter, the Richard Dehns and the Jim Hettermanns. ' Mrs. Hubert Evans and son, Albert of Woodstock were visitors at the Althoff home last Friday evening. " Cindy Morick of Rockford will be spending a weeks vacation at the Joe Smith home. Young Lady of Seven • Marilyn Zeller was hostess to a group of her friends on July 15 when she reached her seventh milestone. HUNTINGREGULATIONS Duck hunters planning jto hunt on waterfowl management areas along the Mississippi and lower Illinois rivers this coming season will be privileged to draw for blind sites on nine areas, according to an order of the state Department of Conservation. The order covers hunting regulations on federally owned land from East Dubuque to Alton, on some department lands along the Illinois and DesPlaines rivers and at Grass Lake. Approximately 800 blind sites will be available on the nine areas. Hunters who wish to participate in the drawing should apply by postcards or letter to the Department of Conservation, State Office Building, Sprfrigfield, 111., between now and Aug. 10.
