Lakeland Park Joan Krater's Now how do you like that! My first week back and they throw an early deadline at me. Why I have hot even been back long enough to glean any gossip. After doing nothing but loafing for the past three weeks, I'm not sure I'll be able to get these old typewriter keys working. If you'll stick with ine tho', I'll try. First of all I want to thank Joan Krater for the terrific job she did as reporter. Even tho' she is probably the busiest' person . in Lakeland Park she still found tirrie to get out a lengthy and interesting column each week. I've tried to talk her into just continuing on each wfeek but I didn't convince her that was a good idea. General Meeting The Lakeland Park Property Owner's association will hold a general meeting oh Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1:30 R.m. This meeting will, be held at the west beach. Immediately following the meeting there will be entertainment and coffee. Please bring your own cup. I think it is extremely important for us all to attend these meetings. After all the board members go thru a great deal of extra work to set these meetings up for YOUR benefit so the least you can do is attend. This is your opportunity to express your ideas, praise, criticism or complaints . . . take advantage of the chance. Come to the meeting--know your association and meet your neighbors. in the Victory Memorial hospital 'in Waukegan. He underwent surgery on Friday and Mrs. Carino reports he should be home in a week to the days. We hope by this time he is feeling fit as a fiddle. A cherry card would be appreciated I'm sure. Mrs. Carino says she can|t say enough about how wonderful her neighbors have been helping out and taking her to the hospital. I think when it comes to having good neighbors we have the best in Lakeland Park. That Ed Lirmane was taken back to Memorial hospital in Woodstock this past week. Pat did say he'd be home in a week so perhaps by now he's back home. Hurry and get well Ed, your neighbors want to come over to see you. First Meeting Tonight Thursday, Sept. 5 the Lakeland Park Woman's club will hold its first meeting of the fall season. The meeting will be held at the Rizzo home at 323 Home Ave. at 8 p.m. If you haven't already asked that new neighbor, hurry and give her a call to invite her to go with you. I'm sure the officers would appreciate a large turn-out So Sorry To Hear TTiat Louis Carino is a patient Birthday Shenanigans If you've noticed musical talent developing among some of the younger set in unit four you can be sure that it got its start at Bobby LaPar's birthday party. Bobby provided each of his guests with a harmonica and life hasn't been the same siftfce. Tommy Reinhardt, Tom and Mary Barbara Uttich, and sisters JeaA and Joyce helped Bobby polish off the traditional cake and ice cream on Thursday afternoon. Coming and Going Even tho' the summer is drawing to a close there has been no let up in the traffic seen coming and going at #the Radisch home ,on Knoll Ave. For the past week Bill and Lyda .have been enjoying a visit with c their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. WilliamFRadisch, Jr., Debbie and Billy from Winston Salem, N. Car. This is their fir^get- together in almost two years so they hajd lots of visiting to. do. Another honored guest was two week old Sharon Lyda who came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Riley and big sister, Susan, and brother Carl, Jr. to visit grandma and grandpa. Other visitors throughout the week were Florence Trew of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Zody of McCullom Lake, Mr. and Mrs, Graziano who were former neighbors in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. I William Treber of Chicago. I We were most happy to have | Jetta Gleeson and sons, Briart and Mike, come to spend the day on Thursday. This is their first visit back to Lakeland Park since they moved to Manhattan., The Uttich's travels' to Michigan included an extended stay at Lake Leelanau, a trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes where the dunesmobile ride was a hig thrill to Tom arid Mary Barbara. On another interesting sidetrip we went through Morgans Canning Co. where we must have seen millions of cherries being' processed, and of course the trips on the ferry boat between Milwaukee and Ludington provided a whale of a time for our two Indians. It is good to be back even if the weeds were all on hand to greet us. Oar good neighbors Herb and Marge Dent "took care of our house and guppies, while Mary Laurence was custodian of the garden.
