Sept. it At this meeting, the board decided on having a monthly "play the game" night to raise money for the community house fund. The board also approved the appropriation for new chairs and a loud speaker. A committee composed of Joan Krater, Helen Strandquist and feud Uttich was appointed to see j. R. LadfJ--. This meeting took place o/iSatorday and Mr. Ladd promised to/donate for the additional bus shielters. These will be built by/ Jim. Quaiver, who would probably appreciate any help he Can get Mr. Ladd also promised that the streets signs would be installed where necessary. The fire hydrants are expected to be placed throughout the subdivision within a few weeks. Play The Game Here's your chance to have fun and aid in building our community house fund. In trying to devise ways of making money, the bpard decided to try to have a monthly community get-to-gether to "play the game." Those of us who attended the last general me^tink know how much the people enjoyed playing after the business meeting. TTie activity will get under way at 8:30 p.m. on the second Friday 0f each month at the Larry Strandquist home, 515 Shore drive. Everyone is invited to come. Bring, your neighbors too. ~ Reminder Don't forget, tonight is the first PTA meeting. Woman's Club The October meeting of the Lakeland Park Woman's club will be held orv Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Kizzo home, 323 Home ave. Be sure and arrange for yoijr baby sitters now so you won't have to miss out. The club has an active year planned. Come to .the meetings and help your officers make it a successful year. on the corner of Elm and Green streets, the date, Saturday, Sept 28. The committee would like to have the donated bakery goods ready on Friday evening If possible. In Memoriam It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our good friend, Louis Carino. He died on Saturday at the age of 73 after a brief illness. Mr. and Mrs. Carino have been residents of Lakeland Park for the past three and one-half years Prior to their residence in Lakeland Park,. the Carinos lived in Springfield, 111., and before that they lived in Villa Park, where Mr. Carino was employed as a niail carrier for the postal department. Requeim Mass was read on Wednesday Sept. 25, at St. James church in Maywood. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go to Mr. Carino's widow, Marie. Our community has lost a good neighbor. Happy Anniversary September must be a busy month for Cupid! We have three anniversary dates this week. Our president, Joe Cina, and his lovely wife, Fran, celebrated their anniversary on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Their very thoughfu] son, Vance, took them out to dinner to celebrate the occasion. Another popular Lakeland Park couple, Bernie and Mary Laurence, stepped out on Saturday night, Sept. 21, to celebrate their seventeenth milestone.
