Our best wishes to Mrs. Jjchaefer upon her seventieth day. Baseball Notes Just about the end of what you will be hearing about baseball from our vicinity took place last Saturday and Sunday. A bus driven by Frank Schaefer and laden with Joe Frett's McHenry county league champions, the Johnsburg Tigers, made another trip to Stateville. The boys playa good game and came out the victors over the inmates. Hettermann's softball team, which Were champions also this year, made their yearly trip to New Munster, Wis.; last Sunday afternoon for the final game of ball this year. Although they came out on the short end of a 4 to 3 score, the players and their families gathered at "Scfiiny" Smith's 0} participate in some lively fun. Brownie News On Sept. 24, the troop of brownies which meet in the community club each week completed their lapel pins. The girls are planning to wear them to the next meeting. Hostess of the week was Joann Whiting who treated all those present to cookies. Nickell, state superintendent of public instructioh. Nickell approved the amended claim in the amount o $738,714.07 for the sehool year which ended June 30, 1957, which was a part of a record state-wide claim of $&3,433,08IJ03. The state superintendent of public instruction has certified payment of the county claim, payable to Richard L. Tazewell," county superintendent of schools, who in turn will, disburse the claim to the districts in the county. McHenry county's original prior claim was set at $754,181.61, or $15,467.54 over its finally approved amended claim. Qtis M. Kramer Wonder Lake ' residents this week mourned the passing, of Otis M. Kramer, 79, a resident for fifteen years. He died Thursday in his home after an illness extending over three years.
