The liPPOA is planning once again to host the children at their third Annual Halloween party. Games lire now in the process of being planned, and the big attraction this year will be a bonfire. We are asking, as in past years, for donations of candy fruit, cookies, prizes or last (but not least) Sioney. Give it a little thought and try And help Lakeland Park's contribution to the fund be a good one. getting out and supporting our community projects. ^ Once Again We have to report that the vandals have been at work. This time the light bulb at Short Street has been broken. *11118 has got to stop or we might find outselves back in the dark. Everyone knows' that the LPPOA operate on a very limited budget and they just can't afford ta keep replacing damaged bulbs. Once again we urge parents-to instruct their children about respecting community property. When the guilty parties are found they or their parents will have to pay for the damages. Now You'll Know Exactly where the community house will be. Hie park committee have been very busy these days. A very good looking sign has been erected on the community house site in the park. Bob Laursen designed and built it with the help of Ed Gladman. The art work was done by Floyd Leigh and Steve Kotryck. Lloyd Dawson, Bernie Laurence, Kenny Steve Kotryck, Len Bottari, Andy Hauptm^nn and Waily Laurence served as a w6rk committteee to erect the sign. It Didn't Take Long For the neighborhood to try out the new merry-go-rounds that we now have at our beaches I think they myst have all been on hand watching the beach committee putting them together cause just minutes after they were finished the whole gang climbed on to break them in. The merry-gorounds have been in steady use since. A great big thank you to the ever Working beach committee-- Roy Meineke, Bill Haynes, Floyd Leigh,. and Larry Strandquist. Progress Lakeland Park is growing, growing." Now the new section east of Meadow Lane is about to bustle with activity. Just recently poles have been erected, electricity has been installed and two of the homes are about ready for occuncy. A number of homes are Iso in the process of being built nd foundations are popping up here, there, and everywhere. Building goes on within the other four units too. Incase you hadn't noticed we'll mention that the fire hydrants are finally putting in their appearance. This newest improvement should put to ease the minds of many of our residents. Those of us who have been liv-^ ig here for two, three, or- four years can certainly see definite signs of progress. We are able to tell our new neighbors that we remember when--we had to walk to the highway for our mail; we had to obtain scavengar service individually; and we had to hunt for the entrance ways when it was dark because there were no lights: we have also seen a great deal of iprovement at the beaches; and we can go sounding like honestto- goodness pioneers. We can all look back and feel just a bit proud to think that we helped make these improvements possible by o r g a n i z i n g , c o - o p e r a t i n g , a n d working well together. They hide in the sugar, how tasty they seem; They gave it a flavor that's piquant and rich, But see one at home and they give us the itch; There's something about it that's hard to explain, But eaten in sunshine, or shadow, or rain, Whatever the weather--if sunny or damp-- They tickle the innards -- the meals at the camp!
