Women's Club 1 Dorothy Meineke and Elnfiira Kujak/ co-chairmen of the ways and means committee changed the date of the meeting to Tuesday, Oct. 29, 8 p.m. at Elmira Kujak's residence, -314 McHenry Road. The women of this committee are soliciting for well-wishers. Let's; all cooperate. Elmira Kujak, co-chairman of the ways, and means committee, has requested that all good people outside hdr committee that are soliciting "ads" for the Snow Ball Dance, please, please, call them in to her at 2293 as soon as possible. This will enable her to keep her, books straight, and most important of all it will help the committee to know which merchants not to bother again. Bernice Boyce, chairman of the entertainment and refreshment Committee is calling a meeting at her residence, 118 Shore Drive, on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m. I Beach Committee (Old News) The beach committee would also like it to be known that Walter Woods. John Hosie and Jerry Rogers helped in setting up the merrygo- rounds and swings. This committee is working very hard for the betterment of our beaches, so at least we can show our appreciation for their hard work by taking care of our improvements at the beaches. Scoot Activities The Girl Scouts are having a Hallowe'en party at the Frank Sweeney's residence, on Oct. 25. The party will be from 7 to 8 p.m. All Girl Scouts are going in costumes. Boy Scout News The Boy Scouts are having a paper drive on Saturday, Nov. 2. Please save all your papers, magazines and rags for these boys. More details will follow as to the time and place where they will be picked up. We would like to thank Joan Krater, A1 and Elmira .Kujak, Frank Sweeney, ^Joydw pawson and Florence Svitaiiek "for their hard work. They collected the grand total of $79.26 for the Boy Scouts. The Boy Scouts had their first outing on Saturday, Oct. 19. With John Hosie, they hiked to the McHenry Dam and had a very enjoyable day fishing, playing baseball and walks through the woods. It was a huge success. Roast weiners. marshmallows, bacon and eggs and cocoa were enjoyed by all 'these scouts: Jimmy Kujak, Eddie Manginen, Frank Sweeney, Danny Svanitek, Charles Dietz and Mickey McEnery. All boys interested in joining the Scouts are urged to come on Saturday, Oct. 26 to the Rogers' residence, 92 Shore Drive. Meeting starts at 10 a.m. Corner Every' Thursday the Sweeney basement will be alive and jumping with Hep Senior Teens polishing up on ballroom dancing ably assisted by Frank and Theresa Sweeney. The Junior 'Teens are having a Hallowe'en party at the Rogers' residence, 92 , Shcre Drive. The date, Oct. 26 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Costumes are the order of - the night with games being played and refreshments served. AH club members are urged to bring an outside guest. Bridge Club Tills month's bridge club was held on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the home of Alice Quaiver. Those present were Marge Dent, A. Herzog, Gayle Laursen, Ivy Lezak, Jean Meyer? and Louise McEnery. Due to the flu they were shy one member. Winning the first prize was Alice Quaiver and the booby prize was Carried away by Louise McEnery. Commuters' Club The commuters' club held its first meeting on Saturday Oct. 19 at Loretta Quinn's home. Those present were Lynne Beaver, Eleanor Miller, Lorraine, Maudia, Vida Gordon, Trudy Lyall and Etta Meyers. We are sorry to hear that Virginia Cooling was unable to attend. A lively game was played with prizes for all'. Refreshments were served and Loretta was very ably assisted by her brother. Newcomers Bernice Donarski is welcoming her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A1 Koppa, to our community. They moved in Oct. 21 on Highland avenue. In the future we would like to welcome all new members of our community in our column. If you know of any new neighbors please contact us. Hallowe'en Party Don't forget, ghost and ghouls, Oct. 31 is your night to come out from your haunted houses and creaking doors to the Frank Parisi residence on Home avenue. A bonfire will be lit and games played. Donations of candy, fruit, cookies and prizes and of course money will be gladly accepted. Please bring all donations to the, Parisi home at Unpleasant awM nue and please bring them early-- so that bags can be made up in advance. The schedule for the party is as follows: Time: 8 years New, Instant RELIEF for TIRED, ACHING BACKS! A Demonstration Party A demonstration party was held on Mohday, Oct. 14 at Dorothy Meineke's home. Those attending the party were Lee;Revak. Adele Arndt, Charlene Mueller, Jean Potocki, Louise McEnery, Elmira Kujak. Theresa Bujak, Pat Linnane, Shirley Ozog and Marge Casey. Theresa Bujak's funny stories were the hit of the evening. Dorothy being crowned queen for the night served delicious cake and coffee with everyone returning for seconds. By the way, Elmira, what ever happened to poor little Auggie? Splash Parties The paint bug has hit our community. Among those bitten were Lee Glorch, who paraded around her fence with a mean paint brush. Larry Strandquist and Jim and Alice Quaiver got carried away and painted their houses. And low and behold -- was that John Reinhardt, Jr. dancing the light fantastic on his ladder, Sunday painting rain gutters? We understand quite a few of his neighbors could not understand why he was chuckling to himself but all was cleared in the end when he showed them his portable, "lone-wolf" pocket radio. AUXILIARY NEWS -« Florence Svoboda Highlights and Comments ' The regular meeting of the V.F.W. auxiliaary to Post 4600 was held at the clubhouse Monday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. Committees reported and regular business transacted. The Downey hospital party for Oct. 16 was planned with They had a delicious dinner of roast duck, and spent a few hours visiting and talking of old times. Marge was surprised by a visit from her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Beck and Bill's mother and brother, Mrs. Margaret Casey and John Casey. Marge persuaded them to stay for dinner. Bill just made it home in time to enjoy dinner with the; family after having attended1 a football game in Chicago with Jerry Rogers and Jerry Winters from McHenry. Louise and Jim McEnery and Bob and Mickey went to Janes° ville, Wis., last Friday to spend a delightful day .with their son, Father Jim. Marvin Donarski, drove to Valpariso, Ind., to visit a friend over the weekend. Needless to say he had a wonderful time. Mrs. Edith W. Bookman passed away Sunday afternoon, Oct. 20. She pointed out that auxiliary members could perform many nonteaching tasks in the classrooms, thus freeing teachers for their allimportant job of actual teaching of record numbers of primary school pupils.
