Twenty- eight of* the state's 102 coun- -ties: have been certified thus far, Director^tillman~Stanard--said^ and enormous strides are being made toward the eradication of bovine brucellosis in Ulinos cattle. Information received from the chief of the U. S. Army Military district, Illinois, authorizes the local reserve unit, Company "B" 357th engineer "battalion (construction) to accept assignments of men with prior military service to .bring the unit up to its authorized strength of enlisted men. Men now being released from active duty who entered military service on or after Aug. 10, 1955, have a total obligation of six years which is broken down in two years' active service, two years' ready reserve service and two years' standby reserve service. Upon being released from active service, the six year obligor is assigned to the U. S. Army Reserve control group and is allowed a ninety-day adjustment period, during which time he is not required to participate in training. During the first sixty days of this period he should seek or accept ..affiliation with the National Guard or the Ready Re-' serve. unit of his choice. Unless he has chosen and affiliated with such a unit during the sixty days, he must then accept assignment by the chief of the military district to an available vacancy in an Army Reserve unit based on the individual's military occupational speciality and local requirements. M. Sgt. Ely, the local U. S. Army Reserve advisor, all prior service men in the above category to seek assignment to avoid being subjected to the thirty-day annual training requirements which may be imposed upon them if they do not affiliate themselves with a training unit. Further information may be obtained at the U. S. Army Reserve center, 510 W. Main Street, McHenry, telephone 2697.
