glSW®waaSslll * ... • -rrr-r 2 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER LAKEMOOR NEWS Annette Schmit Merry ChrlMmas The Village of Lakemoor sends its greetings to all the surrounding communities and wishes for them a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. This reporter wishes everyone the same with a wish that the Infant Jesus will bless one and all this holiday. Village News At the last village meeting held on Thursday, Dec. 12, discussion , of the, dog problem was brought up. A final notice has been issued. All dogs must be confined to their premises. Any' dogs found wandering through the village will be picked up and taken to the vet's, where those with tags wilfc be able to pick up their dogs. The owners with tags will be issued a ticket and will have to pay the charges on the dog. This seemsythe only.way to keep a control on straying dogs. Please do your bit to. keep your dog safe. Garbage For months and months notices have been issued for all residents to "obtain thirty gallon containers for their garbage. A final warning has been issued at the village meeting. The residents are given one week to obtain their recpticle. At the pick-up after that week is up, an inspector has been assigned to travel the route with the scavenger service and list the names of those not complying with the law. A postcard will be sent to each of those not complying and failure to comply after receipt of this card will result in a ticket. The perilous job of the scavenger service needs the full cooperation of all the citizens. The service lists a number of compliants. This being the last warning, it is high time that all conform with the law. the children. It is a pity that they can not even repose in their proper place without having to be used for play. world but this reporter was late in^ getting all the facts of his birth. Richard William was born to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rehberg, (the former Joan Schuringa) on Nov. 17 at the Woodstock hospital. He weighed in at a healthy 7 lbs. and 11 oz. Sorry, little Dicky, we meant no harm. To us'your are very new indeed. Congratulations to Mom and Dod. Accident Miss Audry Weingard was injured in an automobile accident which happened last week on Rt. 120 at the gravel pit entrance. A head-on collision with a truck sent Audry's autq careening into the ditch. Audry was removed by ambulance to the McHenry hospital where . x-rays were immediately taken. Audry has been in considerable pain since the accident and the latest doctor's report tells that a few more days -Will--be-needed before a complete diagnosis can be made. We all hope that with rest Audry will be all right after her harrowing mishap. Among the Sick Claude F. McDermott, village president, has been hospitalized this past week at McHenry hospital. He will, require several days bed rest Wt by the time this issue comes to press he will likely be home arid on the mend. Mac, having heart trouble, was sent to the hospital When . the chest pain ,became unbearable. We all hope that by this time he is feeling much better and back on the go. Last week I had printed that Viola ArbOgast had, surgery. This was not exactly so. Viola entered the hospital in McHenry but her surgery was held off until tests could be made. I'm sure that Viola will welcome any cards or letters she may receive during her, stay in the hospital. Ray. Petlak, assistant ScOut Master of Troop 161 of the Lake moor Boy Scouts has been scheduled for surgery on Monday, Dec, 16. He will be in the Swedish Covenant hospital in Chicago and would be very happy to receive cards of cheer from his friends. All the boys are rooting for him. A few months ago it was erroneously stated that Mr. Biehl was ill. A report recently let me know that it is Mrs. Walter Biehl who has been laid up for the past two months. A back injury caused by arthritis of the spine has caused her severe pain and she will be unable to go outdoors for another six months. She is now in a brace and finds it very lonesome sitting inside all day long. She would welcome any company who would like to drop in and pass the time of day. Condolences , Our expression of sympathy is extended to Mrs. Alice Becker on the loss of'her aunt, Mrs. Gladys Wigen of Grand Marsch, Wis. Mrs. Wigen passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7. Mrs. Becker attended the funeral at that time. Fun Club The Fun Club met last week at the home of Lu Bitterman. Winners of the day were Alice Becker, Irene Godina, Emma Kunz, and Jen O'Leary. Refreshments were served at the close of the games. Sybaquay Council Party A lovely Christmas party was held by the Sybaquay Girl Scout council last - week. An estimated sixty committee women and leaders attended at which time an exchange of gifts took place. Miss Beebe,, -field director, and Mrs. Lenz, district chairman, Were present as guests. A delicious hot pot luck lunch was served during the party. Leaders and committee women enjoyed visiting with each other and discussing the affairs of Neighborhood Seven. Happy Birthday Dec. 12 was the day when Clifford O. Hyatt celebrated his natal day in* his home among his loved ones. Along with the family were Mr. and Mrs. Freund. Happy Birthday, Cliff. James Schmit celebrated his birthday with his 'family and enjoyed the surprized look on his latest offspring's face as he watched his father blow his candles on the cake. December 15 was the day. Johnson Infant Tiny James Peter Johnson put in his appearance on Dec. 11 at the Woodstock hospital. He weighed a fine 7 lbs. and 4 oz. He is the fine new son and heir of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnson, (the former Andy 'Pokett). Congratulations folks. Correction Last week I had incorrectly printed Pfc. Frank O'Leary as a private. I hope that those of you who have not yet sent your Christmas cards will change my error on your card. This was really a very nasty thing tp do to one of our servicemen, but I hope that Dale will forgive me on the grounds that I can't tell the difference. I'll be just as apt to call a four star general a rookie. Sorry Dale. Burned Mrs. Lena Parratore was burned by acid this past week when she attempted to clean her oven with a commercial oven cleaner. A particle of the fluid splashed on her wrist which immediately caused blisters and inflamation. Her burn was severe enough to make a trip to the doctor necessary. Donation to Library Through the McHenry American Legion Post 491 a donation was given to the Lakemoor library fund. This was a twentyfive dollar donation for which the villagers of Lakemoor and all that use the library wish to say, thank you. so much. Your donation has indeed helped to get the library set up. Still Raving Those little ones in the Becker house are still raving about their trip into Chicago last week. Seems some kindly soul, (mamma by name), made it possible for them to get in on all the kiddy rides at the Chicago department stores. They really had a ball. Nothing j like taking the kids on a shopping spree. 40 mph Have you noticed the new speed limit which adorns our village? Placed here by the state, it might be a good idea to remind folks that this means that traffic will be travelling faster through the village from here on in, so let us be a little careful. The children cross our highway and we want no mishaps here for the holidays. Caution is the best preventative. Personals -> Visiting in the homes 'of Mrs. Arbogast and Mrs. Edwards this past week was Margaret Scott, sister of Mrs. Arbogast. She . is from Salt Lake City, Utah. » Guests in the Walter Biehl home in I^akemoor this past week were Mr. a^id Mrs. Myron Easterling, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Pace, Mr. and Mrs. William Ruse, Mrs. Edna Ryan and Vincent Dodge. The twins-played hostess to the group where winners of the day were Irene Leon and Jessie Corbett. An enjoyable time was had and refreshments were served at the climax of the game. Article On fublic Property The committee on public property met recently with a representative of the department of conservation at which time "irtov* ies of an interesting nature were shown. At this time an article was produced which tells the condition of our lake. It is my hope that I will^be able to receive it in time for the next publication. It is indeed informative and states Troop 161 At any time after Dec. 16, the Boy Scout Troop 161 will be knocking on your door. They will be selling candy to raise funds for their troop. Stolen or Removed! .Will anyone knowing the whereabouts of,, one of two of our new bus stop cops, please try to re turn them to their corners.
