Following the distribution of the exchange gifts, a short meeting was held. Various subjects \ver<? discussed ai this time. This is when the lady Foresters of St. Agatha's court 777, is planning their first new year bowling session. If you care to join in on some good fun, plan on being at the Bowling Resort on this particular day. Recuperating Mrs. Mabel Smith is on the recuperating list following her short stay in the McHenry hospital. We all hope Mabel will soon be up and around in the very near future. Holiday Season This day after Christmas we are all worn out and can hardly think. We hope you enjoyed Christmas Day and are happily engaged in' playing with the C h r i s t m a s ^ t o y s t h a t S a n t a brought the children yesterday. Seems as though after the Christmas rush is over and we' sit dowift to think about it, the joy and fun of Christmas is really in the preparation in spite of tired feet and weary bones. This is the time of year when most everyone tries to get home for Christmas if he can. Most of the college young people have come home for Christ-mas. The Chuck Lindholms have gone to Iowa for the Christmas vacation. The teachers get to go home for Christmas too. Mr. and Mrs. DuWayne Sheldon spent Christmas Eve in Elkhorn and Christmas Day in Delavan. The H. Carlsons spent Christmas Day • in DeKa}b. Birthday Corner Two most congenial "young men" rate a special place in our birthday corner this week. Peter Freund, Jr., was 84 years young on Dec. 22 while our good friend Bill Ricks, observed his eightieth birthday on Dec. 24. We sure hope Bill enjoyed his birthday while wintering in Peoria. Mrs. Clara Nell also takes her place in our birthday corner on Dec. 29. Congratulations to these three very fine persons. Around the Town Dick and Dorothy Hiller shelved their books to make a trip home to spend the holidays with their parents, George and Olivia. Mary Lynn Meyers has been the latest victim of that pesty character, Mr. Mumps. School Days Last Friday the school kids all enjoyed the day for it was devoted to Christmas partying. At the grade school Mr. Vogt directed the singing of Christmas music in the morning. After lunch, there was a gift exchange and games, refreshments and a gay time for all. The room mothers saw to it that the kids had home-made Christmas cookies ana ice cream for the party. The children received pencils with their names on from the teachers. Then too, part of the fun was knowing that the kids will not have to go back to school for two weeks. About thi% time the mothers are wondering why it is the kids have two whole weeks off. At* the high school Santa Claus resembled Sandra Norton just a little in the G.A.A. skit. The young folks saw a movie Friday afternoon. School Christmas Party The pupils of the Ringwood school hel3 their Christmas party, in the church basement Friday evening. Sunday School Program The .pupils of the Sunday Schbol held their Christmas program in the church basement Monday evening. Jim Huemann also left his college studies to spend sometime with his parents. Joe and Vera, over the Christmas and New Year holidays. This is another of those short weeks, folks, so the column looks a little sick. Next week will be quite the same unless you call in your news items by next Friday. As another year is growing nearer to the end, I would like to express my thanks to each and every person who has helped me make this column grow. I sincerely hope you will continue in the new year to cooperate with me in keeping this column growing. I would like to wish all of you a very blessed and prosperous New Year. A Look Ahead It will soon be 1958 and we hope that will bring good days for all of you. Our town is growing and changing little by little.
