When is size not a measure is a tantalizing riddle. One answer comes from the stroller set. Bigger babies are not always healthier babies. Even in early life, size is not a true measure. To Judge a child or man by his size is as much an error as to mistake his shadow for his true measure. Not everyone is destined to be a Goliath. Height did not help Goliath when he tangled with David, who packed his punch in a slingshot. Whatever his size, each man or child packs his own special punch, be it courage, ability to create, athletic prowess, his own brand of vitality. Whatever his aim, there's a good chance he can reach the top of the heap, although his longest shadow may not be Goliath-like. The key to producing a race of stalwart men seemed to be at hand when it was noted that overfeeding stimulated growth. The hope was short-lived. While the freshman in college may be taller than his father was, this taller boy matures earlier, stops growing earlier. The average height of college graduates remains about the same. Although what one eats affects his body build, final measure depends or. one's choice of ancestors. Overfeeding and its hazards, such as overweight -- difficult to correct in adult years -- has been linked to a shorter life span. So when pint-sized Jamie doesn't want as much food as stocky brother, mother need not push the panic button and start stuffing. Instead, she should make x sure that the foods he eats are those that are best for him. These have been outlined by U.S. Department of Agriculture nutritionists whose diet plan includes all food essentials with no undue emphasis on any one: fyjeat or an alternate, fruits and vegetables, milk, enriched or whole grain cereals and bread. tail party and dinner dance was held at the Barrington country club ThupSaay, Dec. 19.
