Cub Scouts Cory P a t t e r s o n , C h u c k i e Fritz, Richard Fredricks, Jackie Roeenbach, Jimmy Herman, and Danny Turner, the cub scouts from our village, are scheduled to plant a magnolia tree at the Legion hall in McHenry on Saturday, April 26. On April 28, several of the Scouts are to receive achievement badges. Mi's. Valerie Patterson is the den mother for this group of scouts. First meeting of the month was held at Moose Home on April 1. The home-making committee w&s in charge of the program. Fnitiation was held for Alice Orsetti, Virginia Brogan, June Baker arid Nona Massheimer. Sponsors were J e a n C z a j k o u s k i and Marge Fernstrom. Five w6men from the Crystal Lake chapter were our guests.. On April 3, Lopa Brever, Marge Fernstrom arid our green cap girl Madeline Mayfield went to Bafavia. Madeline took part in the ritual work. After the meeting ice cream, cake roll and coffee was served by the home-making committee. Our special committee "The Academy of Friendship," was in charge of the second meeti n g A p r i l 1 5 . I n i t i a t i o n was held for Helen Lannes, sponsored by Jean Czaj^owski. Final plans were made to help with the men's installation of new officers on Tuesday evening, April 29. This is to be ^a joint meeting with a potluck supper. Remember to joui us at this meeting. On Sunday, May 4, the new candidates will be taken into the Academy of Friendship at Batavia. A rummage sale will be held all day at the Moose Lodge, Thursday, May 8 starting between 9:30 and 10 o'clock. Anyone having anything for the rummage sale, please leave it at the Moose Lodge after 4 o'clock or contact Ethel Wolff. A silenf auction will be held at the open meeting on May 6. April 15, 1918 Tony Engeln, an old-time McHenry resident and business man, passed away at his home Saturday evening. He was born in Germany in 1846, coming to this country at the age of 21. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1911, and also by five children. Seven children survive. Mrs. Kate Surges, a former McHenry resident, passed away at her home in Milwaukee Sun*, day. The remains were brought to McHenry for bpftal ;• in Woodland cemetery. This section was visited ^.by a regular mid-winter srtQvir storm on Tuesday morning bf this week.
