Mathew's hall was the location of the dessert luncheon and style show in - which" forty-five women and childreh modeled 79 different items of casual wear from Leigh's Fashion shop and Kay's Gift shop, both of Wonder Lake. The hall was transformed with a grass covered stage flanked with floral arrangements. located along the west wall. The spring-like decor was carried out in the table settings with potted plants for centerpieces. The models showed clothing for children, 'teen and adults, in sleep-wear, play clothes, bathing suits and street wear, all very moderately priced. The committee was composed of Mrs. John" Rice, chairman, Mrs." John Condren and Mrs. LeRoy McCall, co-chairmen, Mrs. Thomas Mathews, stage setting, with Mrs. John Gustek, assisting her. Mrs. Ethel Van Kanegon narrated the show, accompanied by John Van Kanegon at the piano. Hair styling was provided by Dorothy Baty and make-up by Cele Warnes. Petetition The McHenry County board of supervisors will hear the recommendation of the McHenry County^ zoning board of appeals in the matter of the rezoning of the lots in Wonderview unit 2 from R-l to community business at their meeting, Tuesday, May 13. The board meets in the court house annex in Woodstock, which is the old central school building located across the street from the post office. The meeting starts at 10 a.m. with the reading of the minutes and other business procedure. We are not able to learn the position on the agenda of this particular recommendation, which could be heard anytime from 10:30 a.m. through the afternoon. Length of discussion varies from one item of business to the other so that it would be impossible to schedule an hour for the hearing in question, by the board of supervisors. We would like to encourage those civic minded citizens who appeared as. objectors before the board of appeals, to follow the procedure through to completion and witness the supervisors in action. May Is Poppy Month • Poppy day will be here soon and the Legion auxiliary would like the people to know some facts and figures of the poppy story. They would like to tell you that th$ poppies are made by the veterfmfc in Illinois hospitals from material furnished by the American Legion, for which assembly work the Legion pays the veteran. Proceeds from the sale of the poppies are used for t"he needy veteran and his family in his own Community, as well as for the hospitalized veteran Advisory Board Meeting "The practical question is, not, are you liable, but does your insurance policy cover all, considerations." was the advice given by Richard Babcock to the members of the Wonder Lake Property Owners at their meeting last Thursday night at Harrison school. Mr. Babcock was invited to the meeting to discuss the question of liability of the subdivisions on their roads and beaches. He said that the subdivision corporations are not charitable corporations and are therefore not free from lawsuit. He pointed out that the corporation owes 'a • different degree of duty to the route-, men, guests, trespassers or children under 7 years of age. He also said that any type of warning sign is good, that unusual hazards should by all means be marked since the subdivision owes the "duty of reasonable care" to its residents. Speed signs were included in this category also. Springfield Trip The educational trip to Springfield which the eighth grade class at Harrison takes each year has been scheduled for May 8, 9 and 10. Friday the group will visit the New Salem State Park in the morning and the Dickson Mounds- State Park in the afternoon, and stay overnight in Peoria.
