' Women's Club On May 1, the new officers were installed and also their full committees were appointed. Those installed were president, Mrs. B. Boyce, first vicepresident Mrs. Shirely Oaog (chairman of the ways and means committee). On her committee Shirley has thirteen girls (all who really volunteered, believe me); second vicepresident Mrs. J. Rizzo with eight girls to help her oh her committee. Hers is a good committee to be on in more ways than one, because you see, she is chairman of the refreshment and entertainment committee; secretary Mrs. B. Bockman, treasurer Mrs. L. Glosson; membership and bylaws committee, Mrs L. Radish with fifteen girls on her two combined committees and last we have Mrs. A. Heraog who is ouh sunshine girl. She will have the job of remembering each of our birthdays by sending out the cards. .We sincerely hope all you girls have as successful and happy a year as did all our past officers and all of us who worked on the different committees. Teea-Chib Hie 'Teen-Club met at the home of Miss Hilda Bock for their regular monthly meeting on May 1, at 8. Bad Report On Saturday I received a letter from Mrs. Schoaf telling of the bad behavior of some of the children getting on the bus at Prairie and Meadow Lane. It seems they have been trying to see just how soon they can tear down our bus shelters. All children should be made to understand that these shelters are put there for their benefit and should be taken care of by them and not destroyed. Will the parents of the children getting on at this particular shelter please make it their personal business to tell their children to refrain from such behavior in the future. Mrs. Schoaf was kind enough to let the children use her garage befor said bus shelter was built and they defaced her garage with/ obscene language which is a grave injustice and shows lack of gratitude for the kindness shown by this woman. Communion On Sunday, May 4 at the 8 o'clock Mass in St. Patrick's church several of our Lakeland Park children received their first Holy Communion. Among these were Billy Krater, jimmy Franklin, Tommy Przetacznik, Mary Ann Svitanek, John Zimriy, Donna Bucaro, Cheryl Jones, Peter Murphy and Holly Worm. Our Schools (by Classroom Teachers) ART EXHIBIT Mrs. Mead's* exhibition of around the county art work in the foyer of Edgebrook school seems to be drawing a great deal of Attention from all who pass by. In the exhibit are some of the more Spectacular works of her students from first grade, through high school. This collection of drawings and paintings, along with |everal colleges, is indicative of the free illustration that Mrs. Mead advocates. Her art students are encouraged to use their own subjects and ideas, and this showing clearly depicts this freedom " of design. Various mediums were used in the works. Among these are crayon, pastels, "water colors, and cutout paper. Some are realistic, while others are quite abstract. Certainly a major factor for this exhibition's popularity is the interesting way in which Mrs. Mead brings out the originality and creativity of her students.
