SELECT MISS LAKE REGION FROM THIS AREA Johnsburg P.T.A. -Meeting May 20 The regular Johnsburg - P.T.A. meeting will be held on May 20 at 8 p.m. at the^Johnsburg school. Hie members of the school board will be guests and a question and answer session will " follow the meeting. Refreshments will be served by t h e k i n d e r g a r t e n m o t h e r s , tvho are the hostesses for this meeting. McHenry has been asked to participate when the second annual Miss Lake Region Beauty contest is under way. Miss Lake Region and her tiny counterpart ( a new feature of the event) will be selected July 4 and 5 at a celebratioh sponsored by the Lakes Region Improvement association. Candidates for Miss Lake Region must be residents of Lake or McHenry counties, single arid between 16 and. 24 years of age. Tiny Miss Lake Region must be aged 2 through 5. The association sponsors the beauty pageant and celebration to raise funds for maintenance of locks and chemical treatment of the lakes. The queen will receive a crown, trophy, trip and many gifts. The runner-up will be presented a trophy and awards. Navy officers from Great Lakes Naval Training center will serve as judges. Anyone interested is asked to write to Miss Lake Region Beailty Contest, Box 237, Rt. Ingleside, 111., including a small snapshot photo for identification only. CHORALIERS TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT MAY 21 The last meeting of the McHenry Woman's club proved to be one of the most interesting of the year. The fine luncheon, the interesting slides on nature shown by Mrs. Charles Walgreen, plus her humorous comments,, made the afternoon a real pleasure. A vote of thanks should be given Mrs. Stilling, and Mrs. Fleming, as well as Mrs. Bailey, who pinch-hit at the last minute, with Mrs. Jack Ritter assisting. The next meeting will be in September. The September meeting Is always a luncheon meeting, with some very good entertainment. If you are not a member and would like to ioin, please contact the membership chairman. Mrs. Vaughn Jones of pistakee Bay. The officers for the 1958-59 season were introduced at the last meeting. Members feel confident the next year will be as interesting as the last has been under the leadership of Mrs. Goodell as president, and Mrs. Dietle as program chairman. Mrs. Dietle is the incoming president. Mrs. Vaughn Jones is vice-president, and Mrs. Clyde Bailey, second vice-president, for the cpming year. Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson accompanied the Marion Messman family ' of Woodstock to Kansasviiie, Wis.; for a visit in the John Thompson home on Mother's Day. Mrs. Paul Bradford and son, Ronald, of Venice, Calif.; are spending a few months in the home of her father, Harold Owen.
