'Hie ladies reached their destination by bus whiejj was driven by -<$0hn Theleri. While,at Mooseheart the group was taken on mi extensive tour of the grounds fOllovyed by the* serving of lunch in the cafeteria. On completion of their tour, the ladies boarded the bus for the trip home. Ths mites passed quickly on the homeward trip as the group joined voices ' in many familiar songs and the reciting of the. rosary. All in all it turned out to be quite an experience for( everyone. fun On A Picnic J Some seventy persons gathered on the grounds of the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Jensen to enjo'y some delicious grilled steaks and a picnic supper. Thi? group consisted of the technicians of Northern Illinois ^Breeding Co-op, their wives arid families. Technicians attending this outing represented McHenry, Boone, Lake, Kane, Dekalb, Winnebago and ~Coo"ft counties. A' regular monthly meeting of the technicians and a social evening followed the picnic supper^ ft: >ng Time Resident Passes On i Funeral- services for Matt Lay of Niesen's subdivision were conducted last Monday morning at 10 o'clock from St. John's church. Our deepest sympathy is' extended to Mrs. Lay and the. surviving members of her family. ' Carnival Time 9St. John's parish carnival is coming up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 8, 9 and 10. This carnival should proved to be entertaining to one and all as the committee has planned something for all age groups. There will be rides of various types to keep youngsters and the "young at heart" occupied and numerous games keep those whlb don't care whirl around interested. Of course, food will be served on all three days beginning with a fish fry on Friday evening. Lunch".'will be served on the grounds, Saturday evening and the ever popular family style dinner will draw a large crowd early Sunday afternoon. Plan on bringing the family along and really have yourselves a ftod tikie. . Associated Court Picnic Next Sunday, Aug. 3, the community club grounds will be the scene of quite a bit of activity. The Smith family now consists of four girls and one boy. OUr congratulations to the proud grandparents and new parents. " I Painful Accidents Lightning seemed to strike twice within the Wakitsch family in a matter.of days last week. Ricky and his younger brother, Bobby, were playing in a* neighbors yard last Tuesday \vhen the boys lost their balance and fell'off the retaining wall. Both boys were taken to the clinic in McHenry where a stitch was needed to close the wound ih Ricky's head. Bobby received a head gash but was really more scared than anything else. Thursday evening their father, Gerry, was cutting the grass when the mower got stuck. Gerry tried to loosen the mower, when he lost his balance and the mower passed over his foot, severing three toes. At this writing Gerry is still confined to the McHenry hospital. McAnliffe Baby Baptized Last Sunday afternoon at 1:30, the infant son of Tom and Nancy McAuliffe was christened Thomas Robert, in a rite performed by Father Coakley at St. Patrick's church. Sponsors for the young lad were his aUnt and uncle, Mrs. Lorraine Jones and Robert Smith. Dinner was served later at the home of the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Smith. Present in the Smith home were the paternal grandparents, Mr. ahd Mrs. Thomas McAuliffe, the great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe King and Mrs. Liz Smith. Jak-Ana Heights No. d o u b t many saw the float from Jak-Ana Heights when it .was in the Fiesta Day parade in McHenry, recently. The residents'of the subdivision were all quite -proud, of the float as it was all made by hand afl(d took, many long' hours of flower making and planning. The work and effort on the part of those, who Contributed their time for this project was well satisfied laist Sunday when the float was well received in Woodstock. Many persons recognized the name of Johnsburg and Jak-Ana Heights and let it be known by their applause. On Sunday afternoon of the last week, the residents of Jak-Ana Heights gathered op the community club grounds to attend their annual corn roast and picnif. The men got together for a little amateur baseball but by Monday, I'm sure some of them suffered from major aches and pains. The ' women enjoyed themselves by conversing with one another while the children were kept busy competing for prizes in various games.
