Pete DeCicco has a good ball team this, year. There is no one ball player on the team you can give all the credit to, they all did a fine job and still are in there playing hard. Dave Klapperich and Paul rrenz are keeping the Cards there fighting. Lou Rogers has done a real fine job of managing this good team. Don Johnson, manager of the ^nks, had a little trouble this yjjar urith his boys, but everything has been straightened out now, and he has the team fighting in every game. jiAnd now for the Giants. Tg>ey sure are not in the same ^ptce now as they were last year at this time, but they are improving with every game. Our league is in need of more help from the fathers of the boys. The men, who have been aeting as managers, devote a kg; of time to these boys and scpiie of the teams don't have a cbach td help the manager. If the boys would gjly come out and offer to help, the managers could do a better job. It seems like it is always the same few men who do all the work. N Harvard Ball Club By Ron Smith Jack Thomas's and Jack Vick's American Legion boys moved into a first place tie with Crystal Lake as t'hey defeated Harvard 6-2 at Harvard on Wednesday, July 23. They had previously defeated Us 7-2 at McHenry on June 25. Tom Claybaugh pitched excellent baseball as he gave up only 2 runSj 4 hits and struck out 6. He walked only 3 batters. Tom Roti ar.d Jim Justen had 2 hits apiece to lead the attack on 2 Harvard pitchers. Each one had triples to their credit also. The win made our won-lost record 9-3. We scored in the first, second, third and sixth innings. McHenry traveled 'to Algonquin on Friday, July 25, in an effort to hold on to first place. This was our fourth straight victory.
