Buddy Meyers hit his ®>th homerun in the 3rd with Last Sunday Little League fans enjoyed seeing three very good ball games. Two of the games were very close,, both scores being 6-5. Unfortunately McHenry Bluebirds and Orioles were the losers as far as score was concerned. McHenry's victory in these two losses j \yas the commendable manner our boys displayed in losing well played games. The Eagles won their game 12-1, once again displaying the talent that won the tenant for them. The fans will see three more games of like caliber this Sunday, when McCullom Lake All Stars, Wonder Lake All Stars and Woodstock Yanks meet .the Fklcons,""'Civv]s and Cardinals. This is the cflose of Ahe season, so come one, come all. We thank our many friends who purchesed tickets for our Little League dance. It was a great success and tho§e attending enjoyed this as the best dance of quite sometime. Bob Freund's orchestra played exs tra time for* the dance at no charge, which we appreciate much. We also thank the V.F.W., who made the use of their .hall available to us at no charge. See you Sunday! There will be a picnic for the Little Leaguers, both minor antj major Thursday, August 21, at 6 p.m. at the V.F.W. Park. At this time we would like all uniforms to be turned in to the managers. We also ask that the managers turn in all the equipment. Last Sunday the lilcHenry Shamrocks defeated Dundee 9-4 for their tenth win in seventeen games. The Shamrocks now are in fourth place with one league game remaining in league play. That game is Sunday in McHenry when the S h a m r o c k s t a k e on E l g i n V.F.W. in an effort to win their fourth game in a row. A victory might put the Shamrocks in third place, and a loss would put, them in fourth and would mefct Johnsburg in the playoffs. The batting star of the game was* Mike Nickels with a three-run homer and a| run producing single giving hi] four RBI's for the day. Roger Benson had 3 for 4. Scoring Innings Dundee scored a run in the first, fourth, and fifth to take a three run lead going into the sixth. In the Shamrocks half of the sixth we scored one run when Jaskot took two bases on the pitcher's throwing error. Nickels then brought Jaskot home with a single. Dundee scored in the seventh on V. Hopp's single with'a man on second giving Dundee a 4 to 1 lead. We scored two more runs in the seventh when Benson got a single with one out, then Freund and Stanek were both safe when the second base-man made two errors in a row giving us a run. Jaskot's single brought home the final run of the inning. . Nickels Hommers The Shamrocks scored six runs in the eighth when Bentz lead off with a single, then Schaefer lined out on a shoestring catch to the center fielder. Benson then walked and Knox was hit by a "pitch to fill the bases with one out. Freund then brought two runs home with a single, Freund stole second. Stanek walked to load the bases. Everybody advanced a base on a wild pitch, then Jaskot struck out. Nickels hit a line drive which went for a three run hommer. Litwin struck out to end the rally. In the last half of the ninth Dundee tried to get a rally when Duvell walked. G. Plauck hit a hot grounder that Schaefer turned into a 5-4-3 double play to kill their rally, but they didn't give up. G. Hopp then got a single, but the game ended when V. Hopp grounded J. Stanek, rf ^'r > 3 G. Jaskot, p • 5 M. •taickels, lb D. Litwin, If . %'; 5 9 IT Home runs: Nickels Stolen bases: Freund.
