If you have resided in the state for one year, 90 days in the county, and 30 days in the community, you are eligible to vote, but must be registered. If you have changed your name through marriage--you MUST re-register! Don't be a deadhead in civic affairs. Get out and vote on election day. The Gals Did It! Beat the men at their own game, we mean. Last Sunday, the wies and fellows of the Mc- Cullom Lake softball team met on the diamond at the V.F.W. and according to the reports-- the gals won! Of course, the men were playing under a handicap, such as catching with one hand--batting left if they weren't southpaws, and such like that. Tha distaff side, was composed of Lil Hansen, Lonie Toerne, Anne Matthesius, Ardell Brand, "Georgianna" Cable Helen Meyers, Gerry Jensen, and "Dennie Lou" Meyers from the village and Lorraine Hurckes and Elaine Todd of Johnsburg. The male competition included George Meyers, Len Jensen, Ken Brand, Dave Hansen, Bob Hurckes. Ed Todd, Ron Jackson, Jack Rice, and two others. After the -eventful game, all the members congregated at Berenice and Whitey's picnic park for an outdoor barbecue. During the festivities, a "hula hoop" contest was held with Len Jensen as the undisputed winner. Parks, took him to a local physician for treatment of an infected finger at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, I Sept. 2. At 6:30 that evening, he underwent -surgery for appendicitis!! His upset stomach and other symptoms were blamed on the finger until'tests were made. Both parts of his anatomy were operated on -- and the finger was far and away the most painful!
