Besides loyalty to and inter- ' s est in the Warriors, local fans • camel to se6 the new athletic field in all its glory. The home town ^quarterback club has been going over the g6me and come up each day vyith some new ideas as to how we could have avoided that 13 to 0 defeat. m Some wanted more passes, specially when time was runing out at the end of the first *4 half. The boys £ showed a fighting spirit. «*- -- If we had to pick out a surprise package in the game, it »".would have to be Sonny Hocin. ^Not so big, but he was a lot of «man in that game. On defense, ^he was in the right place at ««the right time and his nuiQer- «*ous tackles were deadly. *p The dedication ceremony was ^ very nice and the crowd roared ** approval when \ Supt. ' McHenry had its hands full in the penalty department. This Appeared to'iie the Warriors toughest Opponent. Except for an occasional penalty, the Warriors held their own in all departments, and often looked like a championship team. Although this is the fourth time that Barrington has blanked McHenry, this is the lowest score that Barrington has been held to. Statistics for the years '53-'54 were not available. 1955-21-0 1956-19-0 1957-48-0 1958-13-0 McHenry was handicapped with its speedy halfback. Jack Schaefer, Out for three quarters of the game due to a sprained ankle and the loss of Bob Hauser, the powerful blocking end, early in the first quarter. McHenry managed to get down to " Barrington's 20 yard line five times, but due to penalties had difficulty in gettjjagby this point. f Defensively, McHenry displayed tackling ..OTid rllrive the second half which was quite encouraging. It proved that the boys, although behind, never gave up the fight, a true martf of good athletes. Another encouraging factor was in that the crowd didn't give up either, they kept hoping for a break down to the last seconds of the game for the majority stayed to the end. Hocin Earns Spurs Sonny Hocin put on a display of offensive and defensive play which has assured him a starting birth against. Zion - Benton this coming Saturday. Sonny is a much improved player over last year and he did an outstanding defensive job against Barrington. Matt Eichinger, John Steinbach, Mike Gantert, George Vergara, John Moss, Dick Ant'onson, Terry Brady, Kieth Peters, Jim Jones; Allen Franz, Joe Sanford, Don Bentz, Jim Peterson, Bob Borchardt, Ron Creutz, and Bob Hauser turned in a beautiful exhibition on defense in holding Barrington four times on their own goal line.
