Two celebrations covered the happy event. On Wednesday, Dec. 10, "their two daughters enjoyed' a lovely luncheon in Winnetka; then on Sunday, Dec. 14, all the immediate family and relatives feasted on a scrumptious dinner complete with champagne and a tiered white and gold frosted wedding cake at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Edmond Dupon of Rogers Park. Many pictures were taken by the family as well as by a press photographer. Later in the day, movies and slides were shown by the Dupons of a recent tour of Europe which they had taken. Among the pictures shown were many scenes of Mr. Walker's boyhood hanfetown in England. Everyone went home in anticipation of celebrating the Walkers' diamond wedding anniversary. Decorations With, so many of the homes in our community so beautifully decorated for the holidays, don't miss taking a ride around and seeing them all some evening. Happy Birthday to Phillip Bucaro on his ninth birthday on Dec. 9 and Dairy Tales FOR THAT DEEP-DOWN GOODNESS DRINK FREUND'S MIRY Christmas Party A long and wonderful day was enjoyed by Marge Franklin, Elaine Jett, Daisy Krupinski, Lee Glorch, Dotty Becker, Jean Parisi, Fran Cina, Rita Zimny, Dorothy Humphreys, Esther Cvgan and myself. We all started out at my house at 9:30 Thursday morning with breakfast of bacon, eggs and rolls prepared by Rita Zimny, Elaine Jett. Esther Cygan and myself while the others were all our guests. Then lunch was prepared by Marge Franklin, Lee Glorch, Dotty Becker and Daisy Krupinski and this consisted of chicken pot pies, and a delicious salad and those not helping in this preparation were the guests, and I mean guests, because we wouldn't even help with the dishes. Then from here we went on to Jean Parisi's home where we were served three different and very delicious desserts by our hostesses here, Jean Parisi and Fran Cina, and then last but by no means least we went to Dorothy Humphreys house where we climaxed our day with a glass of wine and made our toast for a Merry Christmass and Happy New Year to one and all. This was so much fun. Hope we can sill do it again next year. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hawley were startled at their home Sunday evening when it was discovered a large truck belonging to the Northern Pump Co. parked in the Klapperich yard west of them broke loose and went down the embankment and smashed into the side of their brick home. Considerable damage was done but no one was injured. Pure Milk Dinner The W.S.C.S. served a dinner to the members of the Pure Milk"and their wives in the church basement Monday evening. A meeting of the Pure Milk was held after the dinner. .School Program . The school children held their Christmas program in the church basement Friday evening, Dec. 19. Sunday School Program The pupils of the Sunday school held their program in the church Sunday afternoon, Dec? 21. Church News Bob Repke and Jay Walkington will be giving their first public sermons on Dec. 24 and 25 respectively, Both of these men are going into the Methodist ministrey. Bob and Jay are featured in several national and state publications for their outstanding work of his county. They are also leaders in their respective fields of conservation and school activities. Illness Mrs. Shirley Ozog, who worked so hard and faithfully as the chairman of the Snow Ball dance committee, is ill with pneumonia. Despite her illness she wants her many friends to know that she extends the season's greetings to them. Early Deadline Again next week there will be an early deadline- due to the fact that next Thursday will of course be New Years day, so again I am asking all of you to let me have the news before Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stock and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Prebes of Woodstock were dinner guests in the Weldon Andreas home Saturday evening. Mrs. Georgia Thomas and son, Loren, of Woodstock spent the weekend with Mrs. Ruby Shepard, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Ainger and family of Hebron were dinner guests on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Freund of McHenry spent Thursday with Dr. and Mrs. William Hepburn. The early cold snap we had enabled the men and kids to prepare it earlier than last year. They scrape the ice and re-flood every night so if you would like to help just be there around 8:30 or 9. Remember, this pond is for everyone, young and old alike, so if Santa is good to you and brings skates for Christmas, try them out on our own pond. It's in the same place as last year, on Indian Ridge near Florence drive. Md., where she recently completed her training course, to Corpus Christi, Texas, which is where she has been assigned as a Seaman Apprentice in the WAVES. The visit ended all too soon but everyone was grateful for the time they did have together! / Home Bureau News Mrs. Spindler, chairman of the Sunnyside unit of McHenry County Home Bureau, happily reports a most successful Christmas, party with such irresistible lures as a familystyle ham dinner, a fashion show presented by the 4-H Cardinals, a carol sing, and accordion music by Bruce Christianson. Santa was also on hand distributing gifts and goodies to all the children present. The affair was held on Saturday evening, Dec. 13 at the community hall in Johnsburg. Of 1he one hundred and twentyfour members and guestsrin attendance, eight families represented Sunnyside Estates. Card Party The committees which worked so hard on the card party held on Dec. 12 reports that it was a huge success. There was (Jtiite a sizeable crowd considering what a bitter cold night it was. Those who attended enjoyed an evening of cards arid bunco, a chance to visit with" neighbors, and the delicious cakes donated by some of the women. A pleasant surprise was in store for the Kelso family in the wee hours of one morning last week. Answering a knock on the door at 3 a.m., they were greeted by their niece. Sandra Snyder of Phoenix, Ariz., whom they haven't seen for nine years. She was a child then but is now a young woman proudly wearing the uniform of the United States Navy. Miss Snyder spent a few days here with John and Florence enroute from Bainbridge, Sick List Dale Maule was taken to Great Lakes Naval hospital last week but we sincerely hope he will be home for Christmas. A note to cheer him along the way would help, As the saying goes "we have had it." That is how the Andersons feel right about now. Before Mary Eileen was over her bout with an infection Pat popped out with the mumps. She should be over them by Christmas but we have our fingers crossed just in case. Condolences We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Bill and Bernadine Grist on the death of Bernadine's mother last week. She passed away in Chicago after a lingering illness and was laid to rest in St. Joseph's cemetery. Welcome The newest family to take up residence in Sunnyside Estates are the John Fiedlers of 205 Indian Ridge who moved here from the northwest side of Chicago.
