Thursday, January 8, 1959 THE McHENRY PLAINDEALpR Page Seventeen McCuiom Lake J. R. LEVESQUES HAVE ICW '59 K3DEL-AB0Y by Elma Nelson It's the deluxe model--fully equipped -- top, dark brown -- body, cream--styling, Matthew Jonathan -- f.o.b. Woodstock, f 8:03 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3. True to her word, Eve made the first deadline and the first headline. The little fellow tippecrche scales at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and mother and son are doing fine, thank you. Chris, J. R., Dee Dee and Dad are plenty pleased with the "new '59", he's just what they ordered. Speaking of Chris, that young lady was in charge of the household in her mother's absence, and a top notch job she did. There were two very confer'* d J. R. Levesques as evidence of her capability. Dee Dee, however, went off to Lillian Ringlestetter's home to practice up on how to get along with two bpy's. Young Mark and Johnny R. helped her in that department. Wednesday afternoon Eve brought young Matt home and * he has completely charmed everyone who has met him ever sin Much luck and good wishes to all six of them. Village Hoard Notes A special meeting was called for Monday, Dec. 29. There was a brief official session at which immediately necessary business was transacted. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. Why 3 your village? don^l you plan to attend and ket^ abreast of the progress of They Traveled Christmas in New York. Coidd be a song title but it isn'ifc. You see, Chase Koch's sislj§r resides oil Long Island and: the Koch family, Chase, Didtje, Eddie and Judy, spent the holiday there. After a ch.-^ining New England Christmas* and "doing New York," all farrpliar to Chase, for he's a nat|^e of the area, the four Koehes motored up along the Hu<j|on to Albany and visited the/fairyland wonders of Niagara Falls in wintertime. They spent two days in Canada, returning home through Sarnia at Port Huron. The young'uns eye^ are still sparkling. Confid J^tially, Dad says the Statue of Liberty is one tall climb, but the children loved it. Ah fathers are durable people. Seeing your grandchildren is always pretty special. Mrs. Pearl Padelford spent two weeks during the holidays doing just that. The first half of her visit took her to the home of her stepdaughter, Mrs. Dan Mumhy and two youngsters, in Lev"town, Pa. The remainder of her time was spent with her other stepdaughter, Mrs. Harold Burkhardt--one youngster there--and the Burkhardts live in Miami, Fla. Need I add, she had a wonderful time. Farewell to Roy and Myrt Kinsey, who have sold their home on Park Vie* and have moved to sunnie 'climes. The couple left for Florida last Saturday, where they have bought a home in Pontagorda in the Charlottesville area on the Gulf coast. I'll just bet it was hard to leave this lovely weather we've had lately! We'll miss them for theirs were familiar faces of longstanding. However, it's real fine to be able to say that Myv w^o recently underwent major surgery, has recuperated beautifully and is looking better 'than she has in a long while. Good luck and much happiness to thefti in their new home. Deepest Sympathy is extended to the family of Elmer K&nak, who passed away Friday, Jan. 2. Mr. Kanak was a resident of Chicago and operated a drug store on the northwest side there. He is survived by his widow, Otelia, and a son, Elmer, Jr. Burial was on Monday, Jan. 5. The Kanaks have a home at 304 Spring road and spent their weekends there. More (retails will appear later as received. Convelescent Corner Ingeborg Olsen -- who has had the roughest 1958--suffered a dizzy spell and collapsed in her kitchen on Friday morning, Jan. 2. She was rushed to McHenry hospital for it was feared she had injured^an already ^seriously damaged back. Examination revealed the suspected injury, plus some fractured ribs. Complete bed rest was the prescribed treatment. It was decided that the therapy would be more effective for Mrs. Olsen in her own home, so she was returned there the same day, and there she is very painfully recuperating under the excellent care of her family- Breakfast in bed may be swell, but Christmas dinner in bed is awful. Ask Art Stuhlfeier, he knows! A bug, too closely related to the pneumonia variety to be funny, kept Art in bed for over a week. He's up and at it again, for it's hard to keep $ busy fellow down. Dame Fortune frowned on Mardy Lorch and she was hospitalized at Woodstotck for a few days during Christmas week. Home without mom is rough at any time, but during the holidays, it's the roughest. It was a very happy group at the Lorch adobe when Mardy made it back home to spend New Year's Eve with family and friends. She's doing fine Newsy Tid-Bits There is a gal, Mrs. Joyce Flinn, who lives in Lake Geneva, and on the very same day she was busy doing the very same thing our gal Eve did, only the results were a little different. To clarify, remember Joyce Huska? Well, on Jan. 3 she gave birth to her fourth child, a beautiful little girl. Congratulations to the Flinn family on the new arrival. "Over the river, and through the woods, to grandmother's house we go" was Bruce and Roger Thacker's theme song on New Year's Eve. I don't know aibout the river and woods bit, but grandma and grandpa are Mr. and Mrs. J. Benest of Worth, 111. Chuck, Barbara, and young'uns gave her folks a mighty fine hand in "welcoming 1959. To climax the festivities, they all had dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Patno, also of Worth. The welcome mat was out for New Year's guests at the George Dason home this past weekend. Linda's folks, Mr. and Mrs. H. McKone and brother Dick, enjoyed their hospitality no end, and as usual, the wee ones, Dason by name, stole the show. Those fine folks on Lake Shore drive, Floyd and Lauretta Frye, had a double celebration on New Year's Eve. Not only did they welcome 1959 but it also marked the third year of their marriage on that day. Joe Rush of Chicago was there to give his congratulation. We add our good wishes for many more happy years to Floyd and Lauretta. Harriet McNamara and son, Thomas, had their holiday festivities in Knqx, 111. this year. They were the guests of Harriet's two sisters, Mrs. Ida Zahlman and Mrs. Erna Pagel of that city. Say, this is straight from Cupid's corner-- wedding bells will be ringing right after Easter for Tom and the lovely Charlotte King of East Chicago, Ind. Naturaly Tom and his mother stopped at the King household as part of their holiday trip. Candles on their Cakes Herb Rowe, Sr. had his special day on Dee. 30. Teddy Olsen was 12 on Jan. 2, but that poor fellow had a flu bug that kept him from enjoying his mother's culinary arts. Bet the cake was just as good the next day. Susan Beth Cable was really "Quetn for a Day" on Jan. 5. Not that she isn't always just that, but you see it was her very first birthday and what a pretty young lady she is getting to be. Hugh McDonald adds another year today, Jan. 8, and it's very evident that it does not show one single bit. June Jensen is also receiving congratulations, gifts and things today. Happy birthday to you all. I shall be the gal at the typewriter for the month of January. Doing a follow-up on Eve is quite a job, but with your help, I'll do the best I can. Happy Birthday to Paul Rizzo a New Year's baby of a few years back. Paul and Jo started the celebration on New Year's Eve by going out with several friends and then finished the celebration at home, the next day with their family. to another New Year's baby, Sandy Laurence, who celebrated her fifteenth birthday on this very first day of 1959. It is an old German custom for the twenty-fifth wedding anniversary that the lady (the bride) receives a silver crown which was presented to her in this case by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law who have just come to this country within the last t^n months and brought it with them for this memorable occasion from Germany; and he (the groom) was presented with a matching silver crown pih. Some of the gifts received were a ninety-eight piece china dinner ware set, an eight piece matching coffee set all in silver and a full service of twelve glasses from water tumblers to champagne glasses and all in between, s£t of twelve gold trimmed dessert dishes, crystal candy dish with cover and a hand-made vase from Mr. and Mrs. Hanse Dotzler who were unable to ahend the party. They began this with a mock wedding from beginning to end with all the trimtnings. etc. This is something Mr. and Mrs. Borchert will remember for the rest of their lives and may I say for myself and for everyone, I hope. t,o be around to write about your fiftieth wedding anniversary, the golden one. t family spent their Christmas in Chicago with his family and then New Year's day with other relatives and when they returned home found that Beck's sister had been here and left gifts so the children had quite a long Christmas this year.
