SUNDAY The TAMs will meet' at the home of Miss Joan Adams, 117 First avenue, on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m. A beautiful wedding was Solemnized Saturday, Jan. 3, in Chicago when Miss Frances Thomas, daughter of Mrs. Edi Thomas of 6409 S. Fairfield avenue, became the bride of Mr. Ey-gene P. Freund, son of Herbert H. Freund of 202 East Pearl street, McHenry. The 5 o'clock afternoon nuptial rite took place in St. Rita's Catholic church, with Rev. Fr. Reidy, O.S.A., officiating. The altar was decorated for the occasion with baskets of mixed flowers. As the bride placed her bouquet on the altar of the Blessed Virgin, the hymn, "On This Day O Beautiful Mother," was sung. Given in marriage by her brother, John Thomas of Chicago, the bride was lovely in snowy white, chantilly lace over satin, the dress featuring a scalloped portrait neckline, fitted bodice and long, tapered sleeves. The ballerina length gown ended in^a full scalloped hem. A tiara of apple blossoms and rhinestones crowned her fingertip veil of silk illusion and she carried a bouquet of cascading white lilies and stephanotis. Her only jewelry consisted of a tiny pearl necklace and matching earrings. ' Attending the bride was Miss Terry Denlinger of Chicago, a ck^se friefid, as maid of honor, •and Miss Susan Thomas of Chicago. a niece, as bridesmaid. Both attendants were attired in Parisian length dresses of scarlet red satin brocade, featuring sweetheart necklines, fitted bodices, cap sleeves and full skirts. Matching scarlet head bows with blusher veils, cascading bouquets of white carnations and dyed-to-match red satin shoes completed the picture. George Worts of McHenry, a close friend of the groom, served as best man and Robert P. Freund, brother-in-law of the groom, was groomsman. Ushers were Paul Freund of McHenry, the groom's brother, and Peter Thomas of Chicago, brother of the bride. Mrs. Thomas selected a peacock blue, chantilly lace sheath dress with matching feather hat and black accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Miss Bertilla Freund, aunt of the groom, wore a royal bllie brocade sheath dress with matching jacket and chose pink accessories and a pink carnation corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, a buffet style supper was served at St. Rita's Knights of Columbus hall in Chicago to more than 200 guests, followed by dancing in the evening. The couple left later by car for a two-week trip to Louisiana, the bride travelling in a lavender wool sheath dress with black accessories. Upon their return, the couple will live in their home on Big Hollow road, between McHenry and Fox Lake. The bride graduated from Harper high school in Chicago and has been employed as a secretary for the National Chemical company in Chicago. The groom graduated from McHenry Community high school and is associated as a carpenter with his father's firm, S. H. Freund & Son. ELECT OFFICERS OF VETS' GROUP FRIDAY, JAN. 16 The next meeting of World War I veterans of McHenry will be held at the American Legion home on Friday, Jan. 16. Election of officers is planned for this meeting, so all mem* hers are urged to attend. Vice - Commander Fordyce Ilanford would like each member to bring at least one prospective member. The business meetings are short and are always followed by a social hour of visiting and lunching. In the short period of time since the McHenry barracks of World War I veterans was organized there have been several ladies' nights where everyone had fun. There are usually guest speakers, often our McHenry mayor or other city officials. The American Legion usually has a good representation at these social events and sometimes the women of the Legion auxiliary are present and serve the refreshments. No matter how serious the motive of an organization, these social gatherings help to cement friendships among the members.
