Page Ten THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, January 22, 1959 Lakeland Park PASS BY-LAWS; VOTE DEFEATS HOUSE PROJECT Vickey Bottari 2262-J or 1524-J Results of voting conducted on Sunday, Jan. 18, by the Lakeland Park Property Owners association shows- -proposed amendments to the by-laws 276 for, 93 against- 4 spoiled. This is a two-thirds majority of the votes cast. The proposed amendments to the by-laws have thus received the necessary two-thirds majority for passage. Community house, 171 for, 198 against, 4 spoiled. The vote shows that this vote, a simple majority, did not receive the necessary votes for passage. The board of directors wisn to extend the heartfelt thanks and commendations, to Mrs. Glosson and her committee for the splendid way in which this vote was handled. It indeed showed the caliber and integrity of the people of Lakeland Park. We also wish to thank the people of Lakeland Park for the fine spirit that they have shown in participating in this ballotting day. This manifestation of community spirit is without a doubt gratifying and encouraging to your board. Girl Scouts A letter was received from the Girl Scouts of Troop 487 by the chairman of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association thanking them for their flag. Cnb Scout News Den 2--Pack 332 At the last meeting of this Cub Scout den awards were received by the following boys: Billy Sullivan received a gold and silver arrow for his Wolf book and Billy Krater received a gold arrow for his Wolf book. Charter night was also held and all den mothers were given awards at this time. Den 4--Pack 361 Den mother, Mrs. Laverne Okal. and her boys took a tour through the McHenry Plaindealer and were quite impressed by the method which is used in printing our weekly paper. The boys really enjoyed this little tour. Welcome Party A welcome party has been set for the very near future. At this party anyone who has never been to a welcome party please get in touch with either Mrs. L. Radisch at 2754 or myself at 2262-J. If by any chance you do not have a way of getting there we will make arrangements to pick you up and return you to your home after the party. Injuries Sandy Bucaro is sporting a cast on her ankle as a Result of a fall as she was getting off the school bus. You may have also seen Billy Humphreys strutting around on crutches. This is a result of a wrestling match. Ed Altmann, has been a patient at Hines hospital as a result of a major operation. He is doing very well and soon should be back home with his , family again. with Marge,- Bill and the two kids. Mr. and Mrs. Hauptmann had as their guests Mrs. Hauptmann's sister, Mrs. C. M. Burns from Wheaton, who spent a week with theft*. She had a card party on Wednesday and invited the following ladies to play: Dill Rheinhardt, Edna Hauntras, Grace Mandziara, Ivy Lezak and Jean Neault. They played rummy and Betty Crocker would have been proud to see and taste the luscious angel food cake Dill baked and brought. It seems "Freckles", Mrs. Burns' dog, wants to stay on with the Hauptmann family since she met "Keto", Ivy's dog. 'Teen Club On Friday last the 'Teen Club accompanied by Mrs. Jean Parisi. attended the McHenry theatre and also had with them a new member, Larry Swedo. Belated Birthday Belated birthday wishes are extended to Mrs. Joan Krater who celebrated her birthday on the eighth of January. Visiting It seems Mrs. Helen Wiley, Carol Altmann's mother, came j out for the weekend and due to - the fact that Ed and Carol got called in for Ed's father's ill- , ness she got stranded here for j a whole week. Of course Carol j said she has a house that js | quite spick and span now. j Gee, it seems mothers come | out for weekends only and then j rjet stuck for a week. My moth- j er got the same deal. She was I nil set to go home on Wednes- J day morning after having spent • the weekend and Monday and j Tuesday and then on Tuesday j evening she went into the liv- j ing room and found the two j grandchildren crying their eyes j out because they did not want : her to go back home so she i stayed oh until the following ! Happy Birthday to Cathy Humann who celebrated her fifth birthday on Friday, Jan. 16. Her grandmother. aunts, uncles and cousins came out from Chicago to help celebrate this occasion and at the same time they also celebrated her little sister Donna's birthday which will be on the third of February. GIVEN PROBATION Harold Kautz. 18, of Spring Grove was given a two-year probation period by Judge William M. Carroll last week. He had been charged with larceny in an information filed by State's Atty. Don A. Wicks in connection with the theft of motors and a boat at Wonder Lake and on the Fox river last fall, totaling more than $1,000. He was given probation and an opportunity to work out restitution, part of which has been made at this time. The young man had been in no previous trouble with the law, it was disclosed.
