Jprteen chapters of the American Cancer society from the northwest section of Illinois were represented at a luncheon last Thursday at the Rockford Country club. Admiral Ernest Olds, U. S. Navy, retired, was host to over 100 chapter chairmen and volunteers who will take part in the fund dme beginning April 1. Representing Mgjlenry county were Mrs. J. Hospital problems will bo discusscd at the meeting. The V.F.W. salutes all veterans who served overseas. It marks the sixtieth anniversaiy of its birth since 1898. The posts and their auxiliaries all over the woild are proud of their members, who fought overseas, from the Spanish-American War througn the Korean War. All towns and villages where there is a V.F.W. post, have gained a better community through help from the post. The McHenry V.F.W. Post, No. 4600, and its auxiliary are proud of all it has done for local youth. We have three baseball fields, play grounds and picnic grounds. We support Boy Scout and Girl Scout, troops, also Cub Scouts, take care of needy veterans' families and award annual nurse scholarships. The V.F.W. post and auxiliary visit Downey hospital once every month, entertaining the boys, donating televisions, wheel chairs, and many other items such as cigarettes, candy, ' cake, cookies, ice-cream, fruit [ and many other gifts. Colberg-Leone Vows Exchanged Last Week j Miss Margo G. Colberg of I.ilymoor and Mr. Robert Leone of Lakeland Park exchanged nuptial vows on March 17 in Woodstock. The bride attended McHenry high school and the bridegroom is a' graduate of Lane Technical high school. Chicago. Both are employed in Chicago. The newly weds are residing in Lakeland Park. It won't kill you to be care ful. 1 KIWANIANS LEARN PROBLEMS OF CITY SCHOOLS Supt. of Schools Carl Buckncr was guest speaker at the Monday meeting of the McHenry Township Kiwai'iis club. He spoke on some of the schools' problems and fully explained the tax referendum which will be voted in April. The district's building needs were discussed and it was mentioned that 100 new s'udents have entered the elementary system since school opened last fall. On Monday evening, the McHenry club held an inter-club meeting with the township group, at which time they heard the studenf committee discus, the Club After-Glo pLins foi this year.
