She was a native of Chicago, where she was born Jan. 3, 1889, and wsiere she lived mos1 of her life. Survivors include the husband and three sons. The body was taken to the George Justen & Son funeral home and then removed to Chicago to the Marik & Son chapel, where services will be held today (Thursday). Virgil Smith, chairman of McHenry county Red fcross lurid and membership committee, has these pertinent words to say to those irked by his committee's appeals for help. Says Mr. Smith: "Among the assorted things brought to us each year by the advent ol spring, there are certain events that some of us don't exactly greet with cheers. One islet's admit it--the annual Red Cross appeal for money. "Although we Americans are the most generous people in history, we continue to remain human. So, when our McHenry county Red Cross volunteer makes his yearly plea for contributions, it's not unnatural that many of us moan', 'Here it comes again--that same old appeal!! "True, the appeal is old. But why? Because the need is old too. "A river, lashed for days by rain, overflows its banks and goes on a deadly rampage through villages and towns--A hurricane suddenly comes over the horizon and spreads death and disaster across a dozen counties--While people bend in terror over a crib, a little girl who was dying is no longer dying because the glass jar of blood suspended above her head was brought just in time--A whitefaced boy lying on the beach begins to breathe again because someone was taught lifesaving, and artificial respiration. "These and mankind's many other emergencies are not new. They have always been with us. They always will be. It's the same old appeal -- because there's always the same old human need for help!" Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schoewer and Mr. and Mrs. John May of Waukegan were guests of their sister, Mrs. Eleanor Young, on Sunday.
