Mrs. Charles Green reminded everyone of the bake sale held the first Saturday of every month, and said to please keep bringing in the t>ake goods for her to sell. Mrs. Ward Vanderpool of Rockford, here for the meeting with one of the TAGs, gave an interesting talk, outlining the various duties of volunteers. She stressed the point that, in giving , of one's self in such work, no matter how menial the task, the young people became more self reliant and truly beoome ' the "Young Adults" they will eventually be. This was written while the civilian'1 defense exercise was still fresh in mind, and making one realize more than ever, how important to the community is the McHenry hospital, and the need for trained personnel and volunteers, should this thing ever become a reality. RECRUITMENT T/Sgt. Morris L. Raines has announced that a representative of the Air Force will be at the city hall in McHenry every Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for recruiting purposes. MOOSE NEWS Women of the Moose April 12 was Grand Chancellor day, honoring Katherine Smith and was held at the Crystal Lake lodge. Crystal Lake was hostess chapter with Evelyn Kingsley the presiding conference leader. The chapters participating were the top chapters, Woodstock, Elgin, Antioch, St. Charles and Barrington. Only one member from St. Charles showed up from Barrington. Address was given by our Grand Chancellor, Leonie Kehnedy from Woodstock, Elgin, Antioch, St. Charles and Barrington. Roll call of other chapters who attended were Highland Park, McHenry, and Loyal Order members, 103 members in all. Seeing the top honor chapters make errors makes us look really good. I wish all of our chapter could have been there and they would have seen where we really shine. Four new members were enrolled, Elsie Olsen, sponsored by Ann Rodenkirch for McHenry, Josephine Prochazka, sponsored by Rachel Lomasney, Adeline Soustek and Paula Jean Soustek, sponsored by Zelma Frankford for Crystal Lake. Josephine, Adeline and Paula Jean are grandmother, mother and daughter. The girls attending were -- \ Mabel Thomas, Lona Brever, Lillian Cox, Imogene Grist, Olga Lishamer and yours truly. Dale Thomas and John Grist were also there. Dale had his hands full with four gals, but he was a good sport and drove us safely there and back, thanks again for the pleasant ride, Dale. Sandwiches and coffee were served by the Crystal Lake chapters; Girls please don't forget the rummage sale, we want more rummage and would like to have it before May 1 and 2 as those are the days for the rummage sale.
