P*g* Fourl«en THE MCHENRY PLAINDEALER Sunnyside Estates ' TWO LITTLE GUYS THROW SCARE INTO THE HOYLE FAMILY by Lois Anderson Two little guys threw the entire Hoyle and Palmer families into an uproar a week ago, but let's start at the beginning. Joey Hoyle, who is only three, required surgery on Friday, but snapping back so well, as youngsters do, was back home by Sunday, good as new. As if that wasn't enough excitement for one weekend, that- morning his new little brother decided to put in an appearance seven weeks ahead of time. Timothy John was born in Woodstock Memorial hospital weighing a tiny 4 lbs. 2 ozs. Dottie had some tall explaining to do to Joey and Mary Beth when she arrived home minus one little baby who is staying at the hospital to put on a little weight. Now that the confusion is over we are happy to report that mother and sons, as well as dad, aunts and uncles and grandparents are doing nicely. these ladies in Ri^umond. An Early Reminder Of the May meeting coming up on the seventh. As you know, our association meetings are now being held at the Johnsburg school. Time is flying need we say-more, so come along and help make your association a working organization. Refreshments will be served as usual. Another Family that really believes in doing things in a big way are the Voights. Patti was the cause of grave concern for Ted and June when it was discovered that she had scarlet fever. Her recovery was a hasty one however, and she is once again back in school. Donnie also had a go at something not too ordinary, an abcess ear, which was no pleasant experience. Philip joined the pill parade with swollen glands, which made the Voight residence resemble a pediatrics ward. Happily, all is well now and they can settle down to a normal existence. Convalescing At home after a short stay in the McHenry hospital, is Mrs. Hertha Zeiger. She will h&ve to take it easy for a while but will soon be up and around again. She wouldv love to hear from some of her friends and neighbors. Captain Folger brought a mountain to Chicago, but that is nothing in comparison to what our social club is bringing to Sunnyside. We were going to honor our forty-ninth state, Alaska, then we realized that there wov^ldn't be much to look at with the fair sex dressed in seal skins and whale blubber. But how about honoring' our fiftieth state, Hawaii. The mongo bongo, that's the Hawaiian word tor lood for those of you who haven't been to the islands, will be something that even the native grass skirt wearers would be proud of. Songs are being written that will be sung by the social club's finest Hawaiian war chanters. You've undoubtedly heard their voices in the village either yelling at their children or the male voices explaining why they can't get home for dinner on time. Putting these sounds to music will be something nobody will want to miss. The date for this Luau is the twenty-third of May, the place, George and Sue Schuman's garden of passion fruit. As one Hawaiian said to another Hawaiian, Howwhyya??? To find out how he was, be sure and show up in your grass skirts and sarongs, all shapes permitted. Our last social had a Beatnik theme and believe me we really had a wonderful time. My throat is still sore from laughing, so why don't you make it a point to attend this Luau we are planning for May and I assure you that you will be glad that you came. Home Bureau There were eight of us who went to Richmond for a combined meeting of the Sunnyside and Richmond units. The lesson was given by the home advisor Mrs. Olsen and it was titled "Guiding the Growth of Character" we had some feal good open discussion on the subject and I'm sure we all came away with some good thoughts. Coffee and cake were served and it was a nice ending for a very instructive evening. Oh yes. we played a game that revealed information about each of us so that we were all better acquainted. Pat Spindler and I spent Friday at a program chairman meeting at the Home Bureau office in Woodstock to give our ED'S RENTAL RENTS Electric Hammers to Wheel Chairs PHONE 32 Thursday, AprH 29> 1959 views and ideas for lessons for the coming y#ar. 4-H Cardinals On April 20, Susan Schultz attended the 4-H Federation meeting in place of Pam Obstfelder who was ill. Those who came were Mary Anderson, Diane Hiller, Kathleen Ferris, Colleen Joyce, Carol Hausheer, Betty Himpleman, Nancy Sampel, Carol LaBay and Laura Schultz. JEST FOR FUN A fat dowager in a Main Street bus trod upon the foot of an irritable gent who was trying to read his newspaper. "Madam," he said coldly, "I will ask you kindly to get off my foot." "Put your foot where it belongs," she said sharply. "Don't tempt me Madam, don't tempt me," he murmured.
