Lose First Game The McHenry Sophomore ^iim lost its first game of the eason last Friday when they were defeated by Dundee 8-4 At the Dundee diamond. There is not much to say about this game, but there is always the next game to look forward to. Dundee scored 3 runs in the first inning. 1 in the second, 3 in the third and 1 in the fourth. For McHenry in the fourth .mning Gates was out, then <»Aller got a double. DeCicco ^grounded to the second base- JjJjnan. Zank got a single to drive win Hiller. May doubled scoring Jjj^ank. NELSON HURLS ONEHITTER AS ZION BEATS McHENRY 40 By Ron Smith Bob Nelson of the Zion-Benon Z-B's last Tuesday threw a one-hitter at the McHenry Warriors as Zion blanked Mc- Cracken's men 4-0. The loss made our conference record 3-2 while Zion now boasts a 4-0 record to remain on top. It was our second straight loss, both shutouts. Jim Smith, first baseman/ got the Warriors' only hit after one out in the seventh. It was a line shot to centerfield, spoiling Nelson's no hitter. The Z-B's bunched together 8 hits. 2 each by .Murphy and Bingley. They probably are the leading hitting team in the conference. It was McHenry s worst defensive showing of the year as we committed 6 errors. Defense had been one of our strong points up to now. Tom Claybaugh allowed only 1 earned run as he went the route while striking out 9. Zion got their first run in the third on a walk, a single, a stolen base, and a bad throw by the catcher, Moss. They added another in the fourth on a double by Degler, a walk, and an error on Tom Roti. They made the score 3-0 in the fifth as Bingley singled and stole second base. Edgar singled to center and when Smith juggled th« ball temporarily, Bingley scored the third run. In the s i x t h , H a l l e g r e n singled after one out and scored when Murphy doubled to right-center, making the final score 4-0. --There is- not much to--sayabout McHenry except that it was our worst game of the year thus far. Everything seemed to collapse as we have failed to score a run in the last 15 innings we hfvie played. Box Score McHenry (0) AB LEGAL NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS The Illinois Rabies Control! WOODSTOCK TRACK TEAM SHOWS CLASS JP DOWNING MCHS W by Dick Antonson - and Jim Jones Last Thursday the Woodstock track team, making a strong bid for conference supremacy, overwhelmed an inexperienced McHenry squad by the score of 83-32. Although soundly whipped McHenry still had several individual stars. Mike Creigh- ®n, with victories in the 880- yard run and high jump, accounted for 12\2 of the team's 32 points. Mike's times of '2:06.2 in the 880 and 17.6 in the high hurdles broke -Wo school records. The school's record for the low hurdles also fell. Sonny Hocin, although he could gain no better than third, was responsible with a time of 23.5. Continuing his victory wein, Jim Jones raced to an easy win in the mile with a time of 5:04. Another school record was shattered by Mc- Henry's mile relay team (T. Espev, B. O'Brien, J. Creighton, and M. Creighton) with a time of 3:45.4. Other point men were O'Brien and Justen in 100- yard dash, T. Creighton in the 880 and mile. Fisher in the high Jump and pole vault. Steffan in ^e 220-yard dash and Antonson in the 440-yard dash.
