We call jt an outstanding job. * 'cbivot I by Verona Kent The Spring Luncheon* Meeting was held on Tuesday) April 28th. A large group OT girls turned out for this affair, which always proves to be a very special party opening the golf season. Some of the announcements made during the meeting were: There would only be 3 classes this year, the 9-hole league being an experiment of last year, and inasmuch as there are not enough active golfers in that group to warrant having a special class, it was decided to discontinue it. Bob is hitting .411, leads the team in doubles (4), home runs (5), and is second in runs batted in (15). He has also stolen 8 bases. His double with the bases loaded was the key hit in a 6-2 victory at Northwestsrn last Saturday. We knocked off the dandelions that showed their beautiful heads last summer, but a flock of their relatives have arrived to adorn our lawn this week. error, and scored on a very freakish play which saw Sompel strike out. the catcher dropped the third strike, and Ihrew wild to first, allowing Jim Smith to score from second. Barrington's big 6-run second inning went like this: Kinnamon flied out. Potter sent a long line double over Smith's head in center field. Waterman was hit by a Claybaugh pitch, putting runners on first and second with one out. Moore then hit a long, hard-hit, flyball over the wall in leftfield, scoring Waterman and Potter ahead of him. Barrington led 3-1. Lahti was safe on an error by Sc^aefer. He stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball by Creutz. Hendee singled to left, scoring Lahti. He stole second and went to third on a hit by Reetz. Fink's sacrifice fly drove in Hendee, and after a stolen base Reetz scored on a wild pitch. Douglas walked and finally, Kinnamon, who had started it all by flying out, struck out to end the inning. The Warriors scored one in the third to make it 6-2 on hits by Schaefer and Roti, and a sacrifice fly by Oeffling. - We scored 2 more in the fourth on singles by Creutz and Sompel, an infield out, a walk, and an error by the shortstop, Reetz. Barrington added their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a walk, 2 hits, another walk, and two stolen bases. This made the final score --Barrington 8 McHenry 4. That Broncho team has something which McHenry definitely lacks, which is the ability to get the hits in the clutch.
