Although overwhelme d b y a n e x p e r i e n c e d a n d powerful Crystal Lake team, several M.C.H.S. individuals stand out. Contributing 14 Vi points was Mike Creighton whose efforts produced firsts in the high jump (5'7") and 880 yd.-ruh (2:07.5). Mike also took second in the high hurdles (:16.6) and anchored the mile relay team. Jim Jones, running with 4 straight victories to his credit, continued to win by running mile in 4:58.2, his besf time thus far. Sonny Hocin in the low hurdles (:23.1) and Jim Creighton in the broad jump (17*9") each contributed 1 point to the team total by taking thirds. The mile relay team (D. Antonson, H. Houck, J. This was the first round of A.B.C. 36 hole match play. In first place we saw Floss O'Connel, Let tie Buscher and Mary Rita Stilling with 263; in second place Bette MQSS. Myrt Johnson and Millie Jackson with 266 and in third place Dee Overton, Marion Donnelly and Elsie Olson with 273. The second round of this A.B.C. match play will be played Tuesday. May 26. Tee times will be posted before that date. WARRIORS LOSE TO ELA-VERNON NINE IN NON-CON GAME By Ronnie Smith Coach McCracken started a reserve team in a non-conference game with Ela-Vernon which we lost 5-4 despite i fine performance by a number of thfc second-strihg starters. John Gates, Ben Cnelini and Mike Gantert each had 2 hits while Peterson and Low con tributed 1 apiece. Dan Sompel, the only regular in the lineup had the other hit. Terry Brady made his first start as a pitcher a?id gave up 5 runs in as many innings. He struck out one and walked two. Jim Hester relieved him in the sixth and pitched twe scoreless innings. The Warriors got all their mns in the first inning. Aftei two out, Brady and Chelini walked, putting men on first and second. Mike Gantert singled, driving in Brady. Peterson then singled to right and when the ball went past the right fielder, both Chelini and Gantert scored. Sompel's hit drove in Peterson with the fourth run of the inning. He was presented with a gift from the band. One of the highlights of the program was the appearance of Stanley Vycital, who played a clarinet solo. He also played with his son, Ronald, who is a promising young clarinetist. Baton twirlers, directed by Mrs. Raasch, made several appearances with the band, to th^ delight of the audience.
