The Warriors banged out 8 hits but Claybaugh and Steinbach allowed 10 hits although they were the victims of some faulty play in the field. Jack Schaefer and Jim Smith led the attack with 2 hits each. John Steinbach tripled for the only extra base hit on Mc- Hjprv's side. Stock, Graysfaxe's centerfielder, led their igi$ty attack with 3 for 4, in- ^U'ding a double. &3yicHenry scored one in the rath on a hit by Schaefer, a Ificrifice by Roti, and a single Jim Smith. They added 2 in the sixth when Steinbach led off with a triple to rightfield. Schaefer grounded out, but Roti singled, dWnng in Steinbach. A hit by Oeffling and a walk to Jim Smith loaded the bases. Ron Creutz grounded into a fielder's choice, driving in a run, but Ron Smith and Jim Peterson made outs to retire the side with McHenry trailing 4-3. McHenry gave it the old "college" try in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't quite get the tying run across, w^helini singled leading off and when Steinbach grounded to the pitcher, he threw it into centerfield on an attempted double play, allowing Chelini to take third. He scored on a wild pitch before Schaefer singled, sending Steinbach to third. Roti's sacrifice fly scored Steinbach and after Oeffling popped out, it didn't look too ht for the Warriors. But Smith singled, driving home Schaefer and Creutz and R. Smith walked, filling the basses. Mike Gantert, pinchhitting for Gates, grounded out to end the threat. Mcenry finally snapped out of eir hitting slump, but couldn't come through with a win. J Box Score 8H McHenry AB R H RBI At the Frosh-Soph county track meet this week McHenry's sophomore team showed that they could be tough although this is the first year for MCHS in track. The team accounted for two new county records in the 880-yard run and the mile relay. Tom Creighton smashed the old 880 time of 2:13.5 with a good fast time of 2:08.3. The biggest surprise, though, came in the mile relay where a team, consisting of P. Faunt, E. Samen, T. Creighton, and B. O'Brien, sliced eleven seconds off the county record in establishing a new record of 3:45.8. Neverthe less, Jess Von Wollenberg was the chief point contributor for the little Warriors with a first in the 180 yard low hurdles, a third in the 120-yard high hurdles, and a fifth in the 220-yard dash. Another surprise came in the shot put where Bill Wright managed to get a fourth for McHenry. At 5' 2" in high jump Bill Hintze took second while Jim Hansen also got a second: his was in the mile run (4.58.2). In the 440-yard dash Bill O'Brien won a second place ribbon and Ron Freund in the 100-yard dash took a third place one., FOX VALLEY RIDERS The Fox Valley Riders met at their club house Wednesday evening at 7:30. The main topic of discussion was about rearranging the track in some places, the gravel pit opening was widened and will be used as the starting point, a few tires were moved and other places were improved. Jim Duggan laid out this week's lime bag run. It started at the Club, went through the countryside and &nded at our newest sponsor's place of business, Wally's Inn on Roberts Road. TWO HEARINGS ARE SCHEDULED FOR NEXT TUESDAY WARRIORS MAKE FINE SHOWING IN TRACK MEET Show Surprising Class In Tough Conference Test Two hearings are scheduled at the city hall in McHenry for 3 o'clock on Tuesday, June 2. In one, the petitioners, Charles Stilling, Herlinda Stilling, Jerome Stilling and Sandra Stilling, hope to change the classification of a piece of property from "F" farming 6 to "R-l" residential. In the second, James Becker and Dorothy Becker are asking for a variation of the "side yard requirements" and that they be allowed to add an addition to the front or east side of an existing structure. The property is located on the shore of Pistakee Lake. TAX COLLECTIONS A total of $27,054 was collected in McHenry in tax collections on all types of business, on February sales, collected in March. Samen scored two more points by taking fourth place. All in all Crystal Lake was an easy winner with 86 points w h i l e M c H e n r y n o s e d o u t Woodstock 43Ms to 42V2. On Wednesday, May 13, McHenry had its first representation at the conference track meet in over twenty years. Our inexperienced track team mad£ a surprisingly good showing in spite of keen competition from the best track performers in t h e c o n f e r e n c e . M c H e n r y placed sixth, twenty points ahead of last place Dundee and only three points behind fifth place Zion. Most of McHenry's ' scoring was accounted for by the three Creighton brothers, Mike, Tom and Jim, who brought homeseven medals. Mike took one of the Warriors' two firsts in the halfmile run with a time of 2:06.8. He tied for second in the high jump behind Bill Johns, who took second in state, and he placed fourth in the high hurdles. Tom took a third in the halfmile run, and was a member of the fourth place mile relay team. Jim was another member of the mile relay team and he tied for fourth plsjce in the broad jump. , Jim Jones was McHenry's other first place winner. He won the mile run with a time of 4:58.8. Jim Hansen, a rapidly improving sophmore came in fifth in the mile. The Warriors other medal winners were Hank Houck and Bill O'Brien, who completed the relay team. Next year should be a banner one for McHenry's track teams as two of the Creighton brothers (Mike and Tom) are returning, along with a strong sophomore track team. .^1 Page Fire LEGAL NOTICE In the matter of the "application of HENRY J.
