Bridge Club Meets At Higgins Home The Wonder Lake Catholic Woman's Bridge club met at the home of Mrs. Joanne Higgins this month. BENEFIT PROGRAM More than 100 persons gathered at the high school auditorium last Saturday evening to witness an unusually line treat. Ann Varese, talented actress and singer, presented a revue of a leading Broadway musical comedy for the benefit of the McHenry Woman's club. Mrs. Varese donated net proceeds of her fee, amounting to $80, to the local library. The club will use other proceeds of the program for miscellaneous worthwhile projects which they sponsor. Viola Schaefer Wed Saturday A beautiful summer wedding was solemnized on Saturday, June 13, at St. Mail's Catholic church, McHenry, when Miss Viola Schaefer became the bride of Mr. Robert Nickels. The bride is the daughter of^Jie late Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Schaefer of McHenry and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nickels of Woodstock. Rev. Fr. Nilges officiated at the 10 o'clock rite, with the children's choir offering nuptial music. Bouquets of carnations decorated the altars, and the bride placed her bouquet on the Blessed Virgin's altar. Miss Schaefer, given in marriage by, her brother-in-law, Clarence Diedrich, was lovely in a Brussles lace dress, her basque torso bodice fashioning a scalloped neckline and long, tapered sleeves. A lace panel skirt detailed her all nylon tulle^ ruffled train and bouffant ' skirt. Miss Schaefer's headpiece, a jeweled crown, held her silk illusion fingertip veil. . Her flowers were white roses, centered with an orchid, tied with white streamers and satin bows. Attendants were Miss Marie Stoffel. a cousin, as maid of honor. Miss Dorothy Stoffel. a cousin, and Gloria Figard, sister of the groom, as bridesmaids. They were attired in similarly styled gowns, in pink, blue and yellow, of silk sheer over taffeta. Their shirred bodices fashioned stoles, and tiers of ruffles formed a circular pattern as a detail on their bouffant skirts. A matching headpiece of forget-me-nots in a clouch motif held little nose veils. They carried bouquets of flowers in colors nmtehirig their dresses. Little Linda Diedrich. niece of the bride, acted as flower girl, wearing a dress featuring a white satin bodice and threetiered lace over taffeta skirt. Her flowers were in the three colors of the attendant's dress, surrounded with white. Albert Schaefer, brother of the bride, served as best man and groomsmen were Raymond Schaefer, nephew of the bride, and Jim Hansman. cousin of the groom. Fred Diedrich, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Mrs. Clarence Diedrich, sister of the bride, chose a white and blue linen dress, white accessories and a corsage of pink and white roses. Mrs. Nickels was attired in a light blue nylon and orlon dress, and had pink and white roses in her corsage. Dinner was served at noon at St. Mary's school hall to thirtyfive members of -the bridal party and two families. Later. 300 guests enjoyed an evening reception there.
