Page Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Thursday, June 18, 1959- Little League Turns On Lights Drove downtown early this morning when the air was fresh and the heat of the sun blending pleasantly with the coolness of the time of day. Such pleasantness should invigorate a person to the point of buckling into the day's work with mucho-gusto. All it did to us was bring thoughts of a vacation.. The McHenry County All- Star baseball game will be played at Crystal Lake next; Sunday. Should be a good one to watch. In other columns you will note that Johnsburg has a special game Friday night and the Shamrocks take on a Chicago team Saturday afternoon. SHAMROCKS BEAT ALGONQUIN 3-2 §H TIGHT GAME Have letters telling, about the Pittsburgh Pirates holding tryouts at Kenosha and Elgin this month. If interested, let us know. The trading^ deadline has come and gone. Looks like our Sox will have to go along on their present power. We were in favor of sending A1 Smith, Larry Doby," "Suitcase", Simpson and Del Ennis to Cleveland for Minnie Minoso. Nobody asked us. . f? As near , as we know, the summ$$^season is just starting. but we overheard a woman say. "I can't wear that. It's a summer dress -- and they are out with all the fall numbers!" ' Men Get out your winter suits. Twas a short summer, but you've had it. As far as we are concerned, this is the win - a - new - car season. From now until Labor Day we won't pass up a single chance for the thrill of a lifetime. And from now until Labor Day our better half will remind us many times that we could buy a new car with dill the money we have spent on chances over the years. DAILY PINUPS Knowing the right thing to Stay to the right person at the right time is knowledge in a nutshell. Graduation daze: prom and promises. Thus, in order to participate in th.is tournament, your five • eighteens must be played before Monday evening. Judging by the number of couples on the course at 1wilight last Friday, the husband and wife tournament has started off with a big bang. There were twenty-two couples participating. and no doubt more ; will be coming out this week, i There are still five more weeks left, and you only need to turn in a total of four scores -- j so there's still time to talk hubby into hittin' around the golf course with you. As everybody knows by now Billy Casper is the new king of golf. My picks of Palmer, Hogan, and Middlecoff did not fare so well even though Pal* mer and Hogan were in the top ten. Having been fortunate or unfortunate enough to have played a couple of other courses during the past few weeks, I have come to the conclusion that I did not realize in how good of shape our course is. After playing our own course most of the time, I felt that probably because of the wea- Iher that al! courses were in wonderful shape this year. It is not true. Our course is in the best shape of any course I have played this year. This includes private clubs as well as semi-privale clubs.
