Page Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALER Wednesday, July 1. 1959 Funniest thing .... not a one of those Cub fans phoned us alter the Sox lambasted the Yankees for two victories last Sunday while Milwaukee was taking picks on those mighty •men from Wrigley Field. A couple of them met us and "praised" our Sox with the remark. "Guess your team got lucky." Charles D. Brown, the McHenry Pony League's man in motion, phoned to say that the local boys will play a benefit ganie on Saturday, July 4, with ! all proceeds going to the spe- ' cial drive for Polio sufferers. Game time at the^-local diamond at the V.F.yv. Park will be 1:30 p.m. There will be one game, but every boy in the league will have *a chance to play and do his part for the less fortunate. The Braves and Sox will combine their efforts against 'the Cards and Giants in this 'benefit game. Let's give this effort a boost. That means be there. > Following our mention of JStock car racing last week, we .learned that many from our •area attend both the Wilmot /Races and the Waukegan >Speedway events. ' A note from Waukegan tells „us that in addition to the modified races there will be a spectator race, plus a back-up race, i Those who attend the Wil- *mot thrillers tell us they have Jto get there early on Saturday mights or face the problem of 'waiting in a long line. * Fred Fowles invited Queen ^Elizabeth to stop in for a cup >of tea, but her bloomin' sched- •lile is so busy that she will !have to wait until the next trip. SOFTBALL NOTES , George Wirfs flew up from 'Florida to visit the old home jtown and dropped in for a visit. > Think he found a fountain of ^youth down there -- looks .great. - Here are some county league 'games to watch over the coming weekend: » July 4: ^ V Richmond at Dundee .
