MEETS AT BEACH TO DISCUSS ROADS Vickie Bottart--2262-J - 1524-J TTle Lakeland Park Property Owners association will hold a special meeting this coming Saturday at 2 p.m.SHARP at the West Beach to discuss our roads. Every member should make it his business to attend this meeting because it means a great deal to all of us not just *a limited few. The second installment on your scavenger dues is due Aug. 1. Try to get it to your respective block captains on or before this date or at the very earliest possible time after Aug. 1. Another thing, please do not make your block captains come back half a dozen times for this money. After all, we all know when this is due and we should make arrangements to have it ready. Well, our dreams of our community house will soon become a reality. The actual building should be started in the very near future, possibly by the time this issue or next issue of this paper reaches you. The ground has been graded and the grass will be seeded and the backstop for the baseball field will soon be up so now the boys can really get together and have themselves a good ball game without having to go out of the community to do so. convention in Chicago last week. Emergency Polio Drive An emergency Polio Drive will be held in our subdivision on Sunday, Aug. 2 starting about 1 p.m. and ending at about 5 p.m. It will be a door to door drive with your own neighbors giving of their time for this collection. Let's all give to a very worthy organization who, when called upon to help, are always ready to do so. Everything we collect will go only for the help of those needing it in the McHenry county. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Otto Gerstad of Sun Prairie, Wis., spent a few days of their vacation with their son, Don and his family, and on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Birkinbine and family of DeKalb, spent the day. Mr. |3irk4nbine is Veretta's brother antl^they came to help and N^give theif ideas for the new home which the Gerstads are building in Lakeland Shores. In Hospital Foster Glorch, a member of the Lakeland Park Property Owners association board of directors, has been confined to the Woodstock hospital due to severe back trouble since the middle of last week. He has been in traction because of this and will more than likely be still there when you receive this issue of the paper. Cards and'even visits with his friends will be more than welcome. Welcome Party Tonight at 8:30 p.m. the Lakeland Park Women's club will hold another welcome party at the home of Mrs. Jo. Rizzo, 323 Home avenue. Come on you newcomers and join us in an evening of fun and also to meet several of your neighbors from all around the community. A real nice time is being planned for you and I'm sure if you-.attend you too will have loads of fun. Games will be played and refreshments will be served. Omission Elaine Piasecki's name was omitted from the list of girls who attended the Girl Scout Day Camp and also she was omitted from the list of Lakeland Parkers who were in different groups in the Fiesta Day parade. She was one of the young ladies in the baton twirlers group. Sorry this happened, Elaine. Gone Home We are getting back to nor mal here at my house. I've had an extra daughter with me for the past month in the person of my oldest niece Judy who is only 5 months older than my daughter. My mom. brother, s i s t e r - i n - l a w a n d t h e t w o babies. Gayle age 16 months and our godchild. Joyce Ann, 4 months, came to take Judy back home with them on Saturday. I said in the beginning NAUTICAL AND NICE FLOWER SHOW THEME Nautical and Nice is the theme of the summer flower show sponsored by the five garden clubs of Crystal Lake. This annual event will be held at the Lakewood village hall on Wednesday, Aug. 12 and Thursday, Aug. 13 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Neighboring clubs will participate in table settings and the horticulture section is open to anyone that wishes to enter. Recipe Request For all mothers, there is a call out for your favorite recipes. St. John's P.T.A. plans to compose a cook book of home cooking which will' be ava)lable to all. Plans are in the making so if you have a recipe that your family especially likes why not pass it on to them. Visitor Marilyn Gamperl of Chicago has spent her yearly vacation with Bud and Carol Kennebeck. Many of us have come to know Carol's sister-in-law and her young son, Philip, who also enjoys visiting his cousins, Alan and Karen. Half Way The kids are about half way through their vacations, school starts again in about six weeks. Time to start thinking about clothes, books, etc., of course don't tell them, they are still too summer conscious. Dogs The rabies inoculation of our dogs was done according to schedule. Almost all resident dog owners took advantage of the service provided so we can feel reasonably sure that we are fairly safe against dog bites.
