Music was furnished by Celia , Page and Adele Froehlich, who sang during the service and as the bride placed her bouquet on the Blessed Virgin altar. The petite bride was lovely in a Schiffli embroidered silk organza dress, designed with short sleeves, with which she wore matching mitts. The bouffant skirt. in intermission length with graceful back sweep, fell from 'the satincuffed empire bodice which featured a square, petal-edged decolletage. Her full circular veil of pure silk, imported English illusion, was held in place by a hand blocked alencon lace clip smartly interwoven with pure silk organza to match her gown. Attending her as matron of honor was a cousin, Mrs. Joseph Burg, of Woodstock, and her bridesmaid was Mrs. James Wegener of Ringwood, a friend. Mary Ann Sharp, sister of the groom, acted as junior bridesmaid. All were attired similarly in blue embossed organza over taffeta, styled with cap sleeves and square necklines, and wide crushed taffeta cummerbunds and back panels topped by huge bows. They wore head bands of real flowers in blue and white and carried colonial type bouquets of blue and white delphinium and carnations. EXPLAIN COUNTY TAX STRUCTURE TO KIWANIS CLUB Another informative an d timely program was presented by the McHenry Township Kiwanis Club Monday night when Vernon Kays, former county collector, spoke about the tax structure in McHenry county. Assisting him were panelists o Lester Bacon, township assessor; Charles Millar, roa"d commissioner; LeRoy Smith, supervisor; and Walter Dean, assistant supervisor1; with Fred Zandier, Kiwanis president, serving as moderator. Tax bills are made up of two things, Kays told the sixty people assembled, the prgperty valuation as assessed, and the tax rate. He stressed that the. tax rate is determined by the various taxing bodies, such as school' districts, and fire protection districts, and. not by the collector's office. jQpncem with taxes should stacfj with attendance at budget hearings of these taxing bodie$n which are always public me^littgs. Kays said that taKgs paid under protest ties percentage of the mqri$r, which serves to lessen the income of the county, whereas the proper time to protest is the ten day period following the publication of the evaluation lists in the newspapers. T h i s brought out the fact that many residents do not read local papers and never see the assessor's valuation of their property. It would be simple and inexpensive under the present system. according to Kays, to send each taxpayer a postal card showing the old and new Tssessment, in addition to* newspaper publication^Pea^n said he would sponsd^|pr<S^ lution to this effect at (he next supervisor's meeting.: ; The audience was conjposed' of representatives of all organizations and all but two of j£he property owners' associations at Wonder Lake. Probably, to remind the lady to do something special, something not a matter of habit. In general, her life--like the lives of most Americans--is one of order and progress largely as a result of habit. It is said that Americans "have the habit of success"; and it's a matter of record that Americans have the thrift habit -- an $80 billion backlog of money-in-the-bank attests to it. These are good habits to acquire: They pay off handsomely.
