The sports exhibition "State Street -- Sports Illustrated Preview Pan American Games" will be held the week of August 3-8 with daily noon shows from 12-1 p.m. and evening shows from 6-7 p.m. Monday and Thursday at State Street in Quincy Show Court (1 block South of Adams Street). The 22 athletics will perform in 14 sport fields. Jackie Klein, a part . time resident of Pistakee Bay, has JACKIE KLEIN competed and won honors in swimming, track and field, and gymnastics. Since 1952, her main emphasis has been on gymnastic competition. Jackie received all her gymnastic training in Chicago at the L i n c o l n T u r n e r S c h o o l o f Physical Education. Jackie severely injured her back last year and just recently has been able to resume practicing, too late for the Pan American Gymnastic Try- Outs. She has won many titles in National Competition and was a member of the 1956 Olympic Gymnastic team. PIDTAHEE ~ CFD In spite of the beautiful weather the past weekend, there were no races at Pistakee because of the annual Inland 'Lake Yachting Association regatta held at Okauchee Lake, Wis. According to the tired sailors returning from the regatta, it was an exciting three day event with an inspiring starting line of ninetyfour boats consisting of the top sailors of the midwest. This was the largest Class "C" fleet in the history of the I.L.Y.A. Those from Pistakee that participated with their boats were: Bill Stater, Y 1, Sid Peterson, Y 2, John Looze, Y 4, Norm Reese, Y 22, Ron Schloemer, Y 36, and Don Looze Y 111. Saturday night, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Janensch, chairmen for the dinner dance, served a wonderful cornish game hen dinner. This fair promises to be one of the biggest and best ever held in Lake county according to Ray T. Nicholas, Lake county farm adviser. DEER PERMITS Applications for 1959 deer hunting permits will be accepted immediately by the Illinois Department of Conservation. Applicants need not send in an official application, the department said. All that is necessary is a letter showing the name and address of the applicant, the first and second choice of counties and the $5 permit fee. The hunting will be extended to thirty-five counties, Brown and McDonough counties being added. The shotgun season will run three days, Oct. 30, 31 and Nov4 1. A split , season has been authorized for archers, the first from Oct. 1 to 15, inclusive, and the second from Dec. 1 to 15, inclusive. Bow hunters may hunt in any of the thirty-five counties, while the shotgun hunter is restricted to one county.
