W.Y.A. fdpgatta, is to be congratulated Jpor taking 5th place in the final race on Sunday. This ? thrill was also enjoyed by his crew, Clarence Peterson. The other P.Y.C. boats participating were: Frank Waters, skipper, and Larry Juul, crew of Yl; Sid Peterson, Jr., skipper, and Bob Musser, crew of Y2; John Looze. skipper, and Qr. James McMahon, crew of 1*1; Ray Olson, skipper, Mrs. Ray Olson, and Mrs. James McMahon, crew of Y6; Chris Jepsen, skipper and Buz Looze, crew of Y13; Gene Dietle, skipper and Frank Stetson, crew ofc Y20; Joe Zahn, skipper, and Frank Davenport, crew of Y66. We were represented in the judges boat by Sid Peterson, ^Commodore of the W.Y.A. John Looze, found it was more blessed to give than to receive as he officiated at the trophy awards. Besides the sailing there were several social events such as a dutch treat dinner party on Friday evening given by big Ron for the younger (?) group. On Saturday evening, fere was a dinner dance for 1 hands at the Oconomowoc Boat Club. Those attending the regatta and cheering the sailors on were: Com. and Mrs. Robert Mielenz and son Mike, Mrs. John Looze and sons Ricky and Jack, Mrs. Clarence Peterson, Mrs. Hank DeYoung, Mrs. Elsa Reese, Mrs. Frank Stetson, daughter Sandy and son Dave, Joseph. Zahn,- Mrs. -Frank x)avenport, Jr., Mrs. Chris Jepsen, Mrs. Chuck Warning, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Dietle, Miss Audrey Lee and Mrs. Robert Musser.. -We would like to thank the host lake, Nagawicka, 1 for a wonderful weekend that was really enjoyed by everyone. MANY PARCELS OF LAND PAID UNDER PROTEST It was announced that with the Aug. 1 deadline passed for the payment of the first installment of taxes, an estimated 3,000 parcels of land were paid under protest by individual taxpayers. This was the largest number of protests ever recorded. It was believed that the total may reach as high as $50,000, with protests following a pattern set in Algonquin and McHenry townships. Even i f t h e $ 9 , 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 charged is collected, the county general fund's share will only be $225,000. This is the fund \yhich has had so many calls upon it that the limit of anticipation warrants has been necessary for the past several years to carry on county business. Crash Fatal To Chicago Woman Mrs. Maggie Shegar, 53, of Chicago, died Saturday night, Aug. 1, in McHenry hospital of injuries suffered in an auto accident in Lake county the previous evening. According to the authorities, Mrs. Shegar was a passenger in a car driven by Nick Capiz of Chicago, which had stopped for a traffic light at the intersection of Highways 12 and 134. The car was struck in the rear by an auto driven by Clarence Neal, 29, of Fort Sheridan, who escaped with minor injuries. Albert Capiz, a brother of the driver of the other car, suffered a wrenched neck. Mrs. Shegars wH^ taken to the hospital suffering severe head injuries. The body was taken to the Peter M. Justen funeral home and a jury sworn in. The inquest is scheduled for a future date. The deceased is survived by her husband, Simon, and one sister. Mrs. Shegar's body was removed over the weekend to the Wesley funeral home in Chicago. Burial was in Starksville, Tenn. Lake Region Sports Car Club NOTICE In the matter of the application of CARL H. Murray, 48, died early Wednesday, Aug. 5, at his home at Sunnyside, where he had resided for the last eight years. Prior to. that time he had lived for seven years at Sunnyside B^ach. The deceased was a salesman for a wholesale liquor company in Waukegati. He was born in Pittsburg, Pa., Oct. 10. 1910. The only immediate survivor is his wife, Barbara. The body rests at the George Justen & Son funeral home from noon until 10 p.m. Thursday, after which it will be sent to Cleveland, Ohio, for services and burial.
