^age Four THE McHENRY PLAINDEALEH Thursday, August 27, 1959 Good Fishing at McCullom Lake SO I HEAR-- The Johnsburg Rescue Squad will hold a benefit dance at Johnsburg Memorial Hall Saturday night. We think everybody realizes the good work done by this group. 'Twould be a good idea to buy a couple of tickets and join the group for a gay old time. The Old Timers played the Shamrocks here last Sunday and showed some of their old' skill in spite of losing. Hear th game wasn't planned soon enough^fca get publicity. Too bad. Fans do like to see the "(rid boys" perform. Never knew there were so mpny White Sdx fans in these pstrts. Those four wins at Cleveland brought 'em out. <Last week the phone rang a few times and the mailman brpught clippings ----none of tjfcem adding comfort as our Sitix approached that important series in Cleveland. No mail week. " 'Twas good news to read about Charlie Hiller leading hifc league in batting this year. He also leads in triples. We can jifet see him whirling around second base and flying into tiird. The county baseball league playoffs start next Sunday alid we think that game at Johnsburg between the Tigers and Crystal Lake should be \yorth watching. Crystal Lake has been tough for the Tigers to handle so look for a real hot ball game next Sunday. vln the other playoff game, Richmond travels to Elgin to meet the V.F.W. nine. Richmond isn't going down there with any ideas of losing. *he games will be the best in 2 out of 3 series. Hope to chin with Coach Mandli before next Thursday to discuss MCHS football prospects. We hope the Sophomores are big fellows. Daily Pinups ^Cracker barrel philosophy sftlty crisp and crunchy. H All of the fans of our McHenry Teen Age League can certainly be proud of the boys. The boys put in a lot of time and hard work to get these teams together and keep the league going each year. The league officers are as follows: Sonny Hocin, Jack S c h a e f e r a n d R o n C r e u t z . O f ficial scorer, Mickey Schaefer, and our two outstanding umpires, Charlie Cuda and Jack Thomas, served important parts. A lot should be said for the sponsors for their time and money spent to help further the league. The managers, too, spend a lot of hours coaching the boys. But, the main thing is for all the time, hard work, and money spent, the results were well worth every bit of effort put forth just to see these boys play ball the way they did.
