In 1958, production per cow hit an all time high, even though cow population dropped to a record low of 19.8 million head. National Dairy Council reports dairy herds are smaller than at any time during the last 30 years. Dust Is En^my Of Phone Mainlehan ce Man The housewife's greatest enemy is also the enemy of the telephone mainten a n c e m e n. That common enemy is dust. After the equipment is installed it's thoroughly cleaned -- it's actually vacuumed -- and then traffic in the equipment rooms is kept at a minimum to prevent fuzz and lint from collecting on the equipment. Good housekeeping in tne telephone building at 111 N. Court is a must for good telephone service, Wire Chtef Ted Konen explained. The equipment rooms are about the most "dustless" in the telephone house. Tile walls and air regulating equipment help keep the dial apparatus free from dust, and lint. "A small speck of dust and lint," Konen explained, "is enough to make a contact across a telephone switch and can put a telephone line out of order." The tide's in . . . washing up yesterday's refuse from the pleasure craft whose passengers "loved the view" of the shoreline as they thoughtlessly heaved food leftovers, refuse and other disposables overboard. If we wish to preserve our scenic beauty we must use good outdoor manners on waterways as well as on highways and other public areas.
