This is a wonderful • project and many of us would avail ourselves of the use of the mobile. Let's all get busy and sijft the petition. News of Your Friends and Neighbors Loraine and Herb Lindemann will spend Thanksgiving with their daughter. Marilyn, and family in Lansing. Ill Their granddaughter will be making her first Holv Communion on that day. The whole f^g|ily will be there. Benefit Box Social For The Boy Scouts A Big Flop Only four couples showed up at the box social last Saturday evening. It is a shame the parents of these boys cou'd nol support them just a little bit The Boy Scout leaders worked so hard for this event and no one took the time or effort to sh#v up. The leaders are getting pretty discouraged and/we cannot blame them. It has been five weeks since she has been in the wheel chair. Last Tuesday Anna Cohrs attended a luncheon in Barrington. She was happy to see a lot of familiar faces and old timers. Let's all drive a little slower now that all the kiddies arc sliding down the hills. Let's do nc^have a -.tragedy. Kids do mffrook, they are only bent on a good time so we must slow down for them. „ „Mike Contra has opened the road again.-People can now get through. Roy . and Gert Snell will attend the golden wedding anniversary dinner for their old friends, the Richard Pfiesters, to be held Nov. 27 at the Legion hall in Fox Lake. The Pfiesters live in Chicago but have sons and daughters living in this vicinity and the children are giving their parents this big affair. This bitter cold has left a lot of the men stranded. Their cars would not start so the stones who did get theirs started picked up the other ones?"ix is nice to have good neighbors. Watch for the newsletter to be put out very soon by president *H. McCreery. Do not forget to attend the December meeting. It will be an important one and the"'*e will be an issue on which to vote. With the meetings held to an hour it is a pleasure to attend and we hope there will be a big turn out this time. Remember if you do not attend the meetings and support the association you have no gripes coming. The first class for the Red Cross First Aid course was held at the home of Marcia Dowd. Nov. 20. Marcia offered her home for the classes. Over the Back Fence Wp would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and that it will be a wonderful day for you and your families. Lorna Carlson and her four children will spend Thanksgiving with Kay and Wally Sielisch, TheV will stav four days, and you can bet there will be •* lot more gabbing than eating. Toots Spankuch has joined the ranks of the commuters. She has accepted a position for an insurance company in Chicago. We are sorry to report Loraine Lindemann suffered a set back last week. Marge Moreth stood by and helped her. She is getting along fine now. We hope you will be feeling super 'o enjoy that turkey dinner with the kids. The Frank Krumwiedes will spend Thanksgiving w i t h Frank's folks in Wisconsin They plan to spend several days with them. Ardeth Zvplebaum was home from school a couple days last week with a bad sore throat and cold. Barb Schlick has been a busy girl all last week. Monday she sang at the music festival in Harvard. The guests were Dee Gregg, Toots Spankuch, Marie Schlick, Audrey Misavice, Meryl Fletcher and Ann Zyplebaum. The girls drew names for Christmas gifts for their meeting next month. Mrs. Carol Remke .of Chicago will spend Thanksgiving with her son. Bill Schlick. and family. This is an annual affair for her. You can still get your candy for Thanksgiving from the Woman's c'ub. Just give the girls a buzz and they wiil be happy to sell it to you. Stanley Wroblewski is getting along fine after his recent surgery and is getting about in a wheel chair very nicely. I This and That On the fourteenth Bill and Jeanne Barron, Marilyn and George Lammert, Tom and Lois Mason and Haze and Dick Morley got together at the home ot Lee and Dick Conway for a social get together. They rolled back the Conways' living room rug and enjoyed dancing and Lee's delicious refreshments. Bob and Lorraine Hurckes will be spending Thanksgiving with Bob's family. They will come here to spend the day. Haze and Dick Morley and family Will spend their Thanksgiving with Hazel's sister and her family in North La&e. This will be the first outing for baby Brad. Any 'teens interested in playing basketball on Friday nights can contact Crais; Thoren for furtlfer information. This is for both the fellas and girls. Lois Leuth, Dot Erbin and Janice Janquart spent last Monday on a shopping spree in Meadowdale. Wanda Dobecki was pVased to have her dad and mother spend the past weekend with them. Mr. and Mrs. Heinsman will be spending Thanksgiving day with friends in Chicago. Kay and Jack Riellv and family will be in Hillside for Thanksgiving spending the day with Jack's folks. Many Highland couples are looking forward 1o the dance this coming Saturday at the Moose Lodge i n Woodstock. These dances always insure an evening of fun .^nd entertainment. Dot and Jack Erbin and family, along with Dot's two sisters and their families, will be Thanksgiving guests of their parents. 'Mr. and Mrs. Schurak. They are all being taken out to dinner. Saves on all those nasty dishes afterwards. The Riellys spent last Saturday in Chicago where they went to help a cousin, Ed Malinowski. celebrate his sixteenth birthday. Last Saturday evening was another bowling night for the Erbins and Janquarts. Afterwards they went to the Erbins for refreshments. Dick and Lee Conway and famijy will spend their Thanksgiving day jvith Dick's folks in Chicago. - Barb Sisk visited with Hazel Morley last I^Ionday afternoon. She was anxLbus to see the new baby. - Happy birthday to Johnny Conway who was five years old on Nov. 17 and also happy birthday to his big brother, Michael, who is twelve on the twenty-fifth. Little brother. Rohby. doesn't have a birthday but he does have the measles and we wish him a speedy recovery. Dick and Mary Madock and family. Bob and Matrilyn Van- Zevern and family and their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis, will be Thanksgiving guests of Lavern and Ra.v Madock. They \\'!1 enjoy an old fashioned family get together. Roger and Pat Rogde will be home with their family for Thanksgiving and also Hazel and Martin will have Martin's sister and her husband for the day. Pat Jackson's mother, Mrs. Ward, and sister. Sandy, drove out last Wednesday to make sure lit l ie Robby was recov ering from his recent departure from his tonsils. Mr. and Mrs. Moreth will share their Thanksgiving turkey with their daughter, Margaret. and her family and their son, Ray. and his wife. ; . Take it easy, remember, many, many children are on that street before and after school. P.T.A. The November meeting of the Johnsburg P.T.A. was attended by approximately 175 persons. It was nice to see so many fathers there. The meet ing was brief and to the point. At 8:30 the meeting was adjourned and open house was held. Parents had the opportunity of visiting in/'their children's rooms, and see samples of the students' work. Each teacher gave.a brief talk about !he material covered and their basic procedure.. Afterwards, a question and answer period was held. At nine-thirty-five, with the ringing of the schooj bell everyone gathered in the gym for refreshments. It was n nicely planned evening and the parents enjoyed speaking with the teachers and getting a first-hand look at the place where our children spend the best part of their day. P.T.A. Box Lunch Danre On Saturday. Dec. 5 at 8:30 p.m. the Johnsburg P.T.A. will hold an old fashioned box lunch dajieo. A prize will be given for tin1 prettiest and most original wrapped boxes. Beverages will be furnished for all. Dancing and a special floor shoU are included on'the evenings calendar. The only admission per couple is one box lunch for two. We hope to see you all there. Here and There Congratulations to Meryl and Archie Fletcher who celebrated their eighteenth wedding anniversary on Nov. 15. We are a little late but the wish is the same. We are also happy to report that Meryl has recovered from her recent bout with bursitis. Already the department, in service but four weeks, has treated twenty persons with ultra sonic heat, ten with gait training, and forty with exercises. Memorial'? new therapy department is located in the "pent house" that was the former quarters for the operating rooms until the new addition was added to the hospital, f^he Apartment has been equipped^with a number of pieces of apparatus for the Juriherance of patient, recovery. Physio-thera pist Phoebe Romberger is in charge of the department which was made possible by a donation of ten thousand dollars from the auxiliary of Memorial hospital. Mi§s ^Romberger is a graduate of the D. T. Watson school at | Leetsdale. Pa., which is affilij ated with the University of I Pittsburg Medical school.
