So far we have had a mild winter but when that wind starts blowing many children will be happy to get in that/shelter, but it could have been much warmer if it wasn't wrecked by some one who just doesn't care. Running Dogs. AGAIN • We may as well get all the gripes taken care of before we ring in a new year. The dogs have been roaming the Highlands again and it seems that they are looking for food. So far in the past week I have picked up my garbage three times. It was scattered through th^ back yard bv neighbors' ddps. Please, if you own a dog, keep it in your own-yard You owe that much courtesy Mo your neighbors. Birthdays Julie VanZevern celebrated , her fifth birthday on Doc. 19 with her friends.'Although her birthday was the day before she waited until Saturday so the ones who baked the goodies for the children's Christmas party. They were Santa's help: ers this year. Martin and Hazel Rogde will s^end Christmas eve at home with their family, Trudy, Roger and Pat. On Christmas day the whole family will drive to DeKalb where \ they will visit with Hazel's mother and other relatives. ) ALoraine and Herb Linde^ mann will spend Christmas day with Herb's brother, Wally, and his family, in Antioch. Emma and Leif Eide left for St. Paul, Minn,, last weekend. They will stay for the holidays and return after .the first of the year. Two more birthdays were celebrated on Dec. 18. This time both in the same family. Myron Bentz was 13 years old and little brother. Clayton, had his second birthday. They enjoyed cake and ice cream and playing games; "Bill and Emmax Rosengart attended a Christmas party in Chicago Dec. 18. It is the annual' Christmas party held by the Woman's club of which Emma is still a member.. Joe and Virginia Karls have been very busy folks of late. Virginia's grandmother. Mrs! Rortvedt of Mafdison, Wis., spent two wegks with ' them. Joe's mother, Marie Karls, and his aunt, Miss Elizabeth Goeden„. of Dean, Wis., spent three weeks with them. The Karls family left Wednesday evening for Arlington, Wis., to spend Christmas with Virginia's folks, the Frank- A. Deans. Bob Messel and Warren Andrews who are both serving in the same ' Marine camp in San Diego, Calif., graduated from boot camp Dec. 21. They arrived home Dec. 22 for a two weeks leave.
