The next meeting will be held on Monday, Feb. 8 in the beachhouse at 8 p.m. All members of the community are cordially invited to attend. fJ)ur Deepest Sympathy xo Mrs. Virginia Parkhurst, whose mother, Mrs. Iva Moorehead of Crockett Estates, passed away on Wednesday, Jsn. 27 about 9:15 p.m. She went into a coma about 7 p.m. and never regained consciousness. Mrs. Parkhurst went to the Villa Rest Home where her mother had been a patient since Monday, as soon as she notified. Mrs. Moorehead had been hospitalized in Mc- Henry for the preceding three weeks. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at the Strang Funeral Home in Antioch with interment at R i d g e w o o d C e m e t e r y n e a r Niles. Mrs. Moorehead was preceded in death-by -her husband. E«|ar Samuel, who died in August of 1948. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Schneuk of East Moline, 111., and Mrs. Parkhurst of the village, one brother, John B'yers of Gary, Ind.; five grandchildren, Karen and Pamela Parkhurst and three others, and eight great-grandchildren, Frank Parkhurst, who himsr^ was a patient at the McHenry hospital left there to make arrangements. /He collapsed at the funeral <home on Saturday and the Antioch rescue squad was summoned and administered oxyger/ until the arrival of the ambulance. He was rushed to McHenry hospital and has been receiving oxygen on and off. His condition was reported as fair as of Monday. Let this be a warning to home* owners to keep your doors locked--and report any suspicious activities to the proper authorities. i Swimming Pool Fund Swells The Ladies of the Lake held a short business meeting before their social on Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Marie Howe. At this time, the subject of the McHenry swimming pool was . brought before the women. Because of the controversy, it was decided to have the gals vote by written ballot. The motion passed by a vote of 11-9-- to donate $25 towards the project. There are times when issues arise in connection with the club when it is not feasible to call all the members for an opinion. For this reason, it was decided to appoint five trustees and they are Betty Poledna, Theresa Schultz, Ethel (Petey) Schmidt, Anne, Zahn, and your reporter. Most other clubs operate on this basis. During the playing of games the following women had reason to rejoice: Betty Reiter, Wilma Zody, Laura Slater, Theresa Schultz, Meta Schroeder, Alice Gustafson, Marie Howe, and Louise Hammerstein. 'Nuff said? The gals snacked on homemade cakes and consumed plenty of hot java during their "after meeting" gab session. The next meeting will be held the last Thursday in February, also at the home of Mrs. Howe. Grateful acknowledgement to Marie for opening her home to the women. Thie husky little lady was born at Memorial hospital for McHenry County on Friday, Jan. 29 at 9:16 a.m. A nice little bundle for the nurses, she tipped the scales at 9 lbs., 8 ozs. Finding playmates will be no problem 'cause she has a big sister waiting for her at 724 West Lane--Colleen-- age 19 months. Nice, huh? Mr. and Mrs. Ronal Godina have been living in the community for over one year. The maternal grandmother, Mrs. Catherine Greaney, resides with her other daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Klapperich, also, in the c o m m u n i t y . Accident Victim Returns Home Mrs. Ruth Palmer of Griswold Lake, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Breridle, Sr., returned to her home last Sunday. She was injured in an automobile accident on March 15, 1959. For three weeks, she was a patient at McHenry hospital. When released she was taken to her mother's home and cared for there. Mrs. Palmer was bedridden for over 10 months! and during this time she received the best of care. At intervals, she had to go back to the hospital for treatment and examination. This gal has had one rough time and it isn't over. She is still in a wheel chair and must use crutches. She will be wearing a brace for six months. Don't forget those cheery cards and messages during Mrs. Palmer's long convalescense. Public Party The Cullom-Knoll association will again "host" a party this Saturday, Feb. 6 at McDonald's. All proceeds will go to the building fund for a larger recreation hall. Goodies to soothe the inner man will also be served. Everyone invited. Off to the Sunny South Tired of the cold and gloom --Jean and Hugh McDonald did the smart thing. Packed their bags on Sunday and departed Monday morning for torrid temperatures in Florida. Going along for the ride was Jean's sister, Mrs. Theresa Cunningham. After a few weeks in that sunny state, the trio will swing up around Oklahoma way and drop in for a visit with favorite "son" -- Ed Caron who is stationed there. Should be fun. Nasty Fall Mrs. George Haines of Fountain Lane slipped and fell on the walk alongside of her home recently and suffered a broken left wrist. The medicos encased it in plaster, which she will be wearing for a month or longer. Medical Bulletin Happy to report that Mrs. Margaret Reid* is home from Memorial hospftal after her surgery and is coming along fine. She is scheduled for trips to Elgin periodically for x-ray treatments. The cards she received during her confinement were a great help towards bolstering her morale. Keep up the good work.
