Brownie News At their meeting last Tuesday, Troop 378 made valentines for their parents. The girls also had a party at which time they exchanged valentines. The troop welcomed Patti Sullivan into their troop. Patti is a transfer fror" a Brownie troop in Chicago. William Whiteside is the classroom teacher for these children and is specially trained to educate the physically handicapped. Mrs. Vahey is a graduate therapist from the University of Illinois and stildied one further year at Stanford university. The treatments she gives to the children are in accordance with the prescription of each child's physician or orthopedic surgeon. One 10- year old youngster who has not walked since age 3 when she had polio' is being taught by Mrs. Vahey to walk with braces. Another county group, the United Cerebral Palsy Association of McHenry County, assists the physically handicapped program by paying a portion of Mr. Whiteside's salary and the salary of his classroom assistant. The parents' group of Cerebral palsy provides equipment which is needed by the classroom teacher or physical therapist. OBITUARIES Dr. VVm. L. DeLarye Dr. William L. DeLarye, DDS, 54, a former resident of Country Club subdivision, McHenry, died unexpectedly in' his sleep last week Tuesday, Feb. 9, while attending the Chicago Dental association meeting. Death was attributed to a cor- He was in charge of a committee for exhibitors for dental supply at 1«is convention. Dr. DeLarye was born Aug. 13, 1904, in Ishpeming, Mich. He married Marjory M. Davis in Dundee on Aug. 4, 1953, and moved to McHenry the following year. For the past three and one-half months, they had resided in Barrington.. He maintained offices in Chicago at 25 E. Washington for the past ten years. The deceased was a veteran of World War H, serving as a captain in the U.S. Army dental corps in the Pacific theatre. He was a member of the American Legion Post, No. 491, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Chicago. Dr. DeLarye received his education in Marquette, Mich., and at the Northwestern school of dentistry, from which re received his degree. He was a member of the Chicago Dental society and the American Dental association. Survivors include his wife; two children, An^ Elizabeth. 4, and Douglas Clement, 2; a half-brother, Thomas Guy, of Ishpeming, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Riberdy of Ishpeming and Mrs. Rose Collins of Marquette, Mich. Services were held Saturday at 1:30 o'clock from the Stirlen funeral home in Barrington, with interment in Evergreen cemetery, Barrington. Rev. Donald Duncan officiated at last rites. Mrs. Ethel Smith Mrs. Ethel Smith, 70, a resident of Venice avenue, McHenry, died Thursday morning, Feb. 11, in McHenry hospital, where she had been a patient for only a few days. Mrs. Smith was born Sept. 22, 1889, in England and had lived here for the past ten years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star . Daniel Lang ^Daniel Lang, 88, of Rt. 2, Wonder Lake, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Woodstock Residence. He was a native of Wheeling, W. Va., where he was born April 17, 1874!
