Ice cream and cookies Were served after the ceremony. The Juniors are doing very well with their try favors. A total of 100 or more are sent to the veterans at Downey each month. Our unit receives credit for each favor. Hymns for the month of March are "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" and "God Will Take Care of You." It is interesting to note how the hymn "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" came to be. It was written by a young Baptist minister named FaWcett. His parish was in Weinsgate, England, an extremely poor community. Most of the people couldn't read or write. As a result there was no parsonage for the young minister and his family to live in. The family boarded with different families and he was loved by all in the town. One day Fawcett was caOed to a large London church, one he knew had a very rich parife. On the day of departure, no one could bear the parting, and the Fawcetts stayed for fiftyfour years. The next Sunday he preached from Luke 12:15 " A man's lite consisteth not in the abundance of the things he possesseth" and then "linedout" the hymn he'd written the previous night:: "Blest Be The Tie." : J-- * The auto is here to stay, even if rrfSny" motorists aren't.
