In the past, it was the home owners joy to know that good police protection would help to keep them safe from such actions. Since the policemen's pay has shrunk to $1 per year by order of the board of trustees, it is now impossible to receive the type of protection that the home owners need. One of the vandalism attempts was averted by the help of one of our wide awake citizens who contacted the proper ^authorities in time to prevent any damage. The other vandalism was committed in a vacant house on Sunset Drive, south of the channel, where youths had entered and considerable damage had been,,done. The youths were apprehended and action is being taken. Gallon Family Many of the villagers will not soon forget the tragic Galion home fire which occurred on the day of the big blizzard a few weeks ago. We have word the Galions are now residing in the home of Charles Lutz, a few doors away from their own home. They will remain there until such time as their own home is repaired and ready for use again. Notes on Speclad Meeting A special meeting of the village board was held last Feb. 29, at the Fire-Community- House, to consider the application of the owners of Fritzsche's Estates to the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals, for a reclassification of a part of this property to a B-3 classification. The board felt that this appeal was also of concern to the village of Lakemoor insofar that the granting of this appeal would grant an extension to the existing amusement facilities thereby bringing^.more people to the "Estates",yjvhich St! After hearing testimony from Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Roe, who own a home practically surrounded by the property to be considered for rezoning, and after considerable talk pro and "con by the board, a resolution was passed to be presented to the rezoning board, stating tne reasons why the village objected to this rezoning. Among other reasons were sanitation, a nuisance,. also the good and welfare of the whole area of the lake. An o v e r f l o w a t t e n d a n c e turned out for the hearing held at the recreation buildinge of those "Estates", with the largest group of' objectors being from Lilymoor and adjacent property, represented by counsel. Mr. McDermott represented the village of Lakemoor and also presented the copy of the resolution to the board, stating at the same time just why Lakemoor objected. Both Sides, for and against, were allowed to be heard and the appeal was taken under consideration with" their decision to be made in the near future.
