The dance proceeds will be used to buy playground equipment for the enjoyment of the Highland residents. Dick Farwell is chairman and Hazel Rogde, treasurer. Tickets will be sold from house to house, but if by chance they don't get around to your home, they will be available at the door. There will alsc be some local talent on hand to entertain you during the evening. Delicious food will be sold during the evening. If you have a card table, it would be- appreciated if you would bring it along. Remember it's the Saturday after the Easter holiday and we hope to see many of you there. Everyone is welcome. This dance is not sponsored by the association and no association funds will be used. Jolinsburg Executive Meeting The executive committee of the Johnsburg P.T.A. held its monthly meeting on March 8 at the school. The nominating committee gave its report on the candidates for offices for the 1960-61 school year.. They are: Mr. Harbecke for president; Mrs. Tomm for vice-president; Mrs Ullick for secretary and Mrs. Scott for treasurer. We will have more information after the March 15 P.TA. meeting. We are still planning for the F u n F a i r on A p r i l 9 a t t h e school. There is a box at the school for items brought in by the students. There will be ^games and food to your liking. Surprise Double Shower Beverly Lewandowski was the guest of honor iat a surprise baby shower given by her good friend, Mary Madock, last night in the Madock home. Those showering Bev with gifts were Millie Shastal, Jane Malek, Betty Warzcak, Betty Sandelin, Darlene Neesen and Marilyn VanZevern. However, surprising Mary at the same time was a shower given for her by Marilyn (Bob) VanZevern. Among those with gifts for the expected baby were Mrs. W. Maddock, Jean Maddock, LaVerne Madock. Barbara Cross, Mrs. Dennis, Mrs. G. VanZevern and Hazel Morley. Both Bev and Mary thought they were detaining each other hoping not to arrive too soon. What a surprise when it turned out to be a double shower. Here and There Happy birthday to Dale Morin who will be two years old on March 19. He will celebrate with his family and grandparents from Chicago. Dot Erbin entertained the girls from her card club in her home on March 9. Enjoying an evening out and Dot's refreshments were Janice Janquart, Lois Mason. Mrs. G. VanZevern, Carla Bales. Wanda Dobecki, Dolly Novotny and Haze Morley. Bob and Charlotte Anderson from Neenah, Wis., will spend Friday evening visiting with Don and Audrey Morin. Bob is Audrey's brbther. Your reporter and hubby. They are getting acquainted with the newest member of the family, the Bob Morleys' elevenday- old son, David, t It has come to this reporters attention that residents along the beach No. 1 vicinity are walking their dogs down to the beach area which may lead to a health hazard this coming spring. It "was asked that we print this, hoping that dog owners will find another plate for their pets outings. Lois and Tom Mason and family attended the wedding of Tom's sister, Marge, in Chicago last Saturday. Mt Hope Church The Lenten services in the homes continue with enjoyment to all who attend. Last week it was held at the Floyd Johnson home in the Highlands. On March 22 it will be held in the Chet Banker home at 218 Mayfair, in Sunnyside Estates. Sunday school is held at the community center at 9:30 a.m. Ed Thoran is general superintendent. The morning worship is at 11 a.m. The messages by Pastor James H. Hagerty on March 20 is "A Faith That Can Win" and on March 27, "A Price On Your Soul". Our church is not fancy but our fellowship you will find cordial, inspiring and drawing you back again. Services were held Wednesday at 1:30 in St. Ann. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Martineau will be missed by many of tie young and elderly folks. He was quite an avid fisherman and made many friends in the Highlands. Elmer has more than his share of sorrow and worry. His wife is still confined to a Waukegan hospital. We hope better things will come to him. Kay Sielisch ^received word March 4. of the unexpected death of her maternal uncle, Albert J. Schafer. He was buried, March 9, in Cadillac, Mich. Kay had just recently visited her family and could not go to the funeral. Little Cliffy Krumwiede was a very sick little boy last weekend, but is feeling much better now. The Carl . Haefligers were dinner guests of the Jack Sparks family, last Sunday in Meadowdale. Ruth and Jim Lemmdns have a house full until after school is out. Ruth has her sister's four children until they find a home. Ruth will enroll the children in a school out here. All the arrangements have been completed for the eye surgeiy for Agnes Wroblewski. The operation will be performed March 22, at St. Theresa hospital in Waukegan. Anna Cohrs and Blanche Haefliger made a trip to the Harrison House in Woodstock last week with a nice bundle of clothing for the children. The nominating committee of the Woman's club, Marie Schlick, Betty Sandelin and Joyce Heir held a meeting in the home of Betty Sandelin last Tuesday afternoon. We hope every one they nominate will accept the offices and the girls hope to have their panel ready for the next meeting. The by-laws committee of the Woman's club held its meeting in the home of Marcia Dowd, last Wednesday evening, to amend some of the by-laws. Sorry for the error last week. It was not Jack Murgatroyd who will be comingback to the Highlands in April, it is Jack Rathnow. Roy and Gert Snell are still in Clintxjn, Iowa. The Albert Griffiths were expected to return last week from their vacation in Arkansas. Mr. (Griffiths will be retiring in a couple of months and has many plans for all his new found spare time. Milton Crosdale left last Friday for his service term in the Marines. His parents will miss him very much as will all his friends. » Just a reminder to the Highlanders, the Woman^s club bake sale will be held at the barn, March 19. It was a complete sell out the last time and this time they expect even more baked goods, including bread, so get there early for your selections. - „ Next Wednesday, March 23, Emma Mares will celebrate her birthday, we wish you many happy returns of the day Marilyn (Bob') VanZevern and Betty Sandelin attended the Blessed Virgin Sodality's regular monthly meeting last Tuesday evening. A note of interest to the women who could not join the sodality at the time of installation, they may now attend all the meetings. It is now open to all who would like to join and when the next installation takes place you would be installed. If you<= are looking for a pleasant evening the Blessed Virgin sodality is holding their party, March 20, at the community center. Delicious refreshments will be served. DENTAL REQUIREMENTS Dentists, dental hygienists and dental specialists haVe been warned tnat they are required to renew their licenses before April 1. The warning came from Vera M. Binks, director of the state Department of Registration and Education. Under an amendment passed by the last General Assembly and approved by Gov. William G. Stratton on July 17, 1959, every dentist licensed under the Illinois Dental practice Act is required during March 1960 and March of each even numbered year thereafter to renew his license.
